Turned Out By A Boss(25)

They lay in the bed talking with Rhia sleep in between them as they prepared to watch their all-time favorite bonding move Baby Boy. This was a movie the two would watch together whenever the other was sad or just in a down mood.

"Ain't that the truth. Fuck Rico light bright ass and you know I got you and my baby Rhia." Cree said as the movie started.

Cree knew Denim was only talking when she said she was done and no longer cared. Denim had allowed herself to fall way too deep for a man that will never be hers. Cree knew that all she could do was be there for Denim when the heartbreak came.

"Now Jody know he was full of shit." Cree laughed as they watched Jody and Evette argue about the girl at her job.

"Yeah he was something else but, at least, the nigga took care of his kids with no question asked." said Denim shaking her head.

They watched the rest of the movie in silence well until they both ended up falling asleep and calling it a night.

Denim had only been home from the hospital for three days and so much has already changed. Walking into her house, it was now very evident that a baby was present. Thrown around were things like baby clothes, bottles, bibs, and diapers.

Looking around Denim sighed taking in the mess. Rico had texted her that he was on his way to spend time with his babies. She jumped up excited as she wasted no time cleaning her house from top to bottom, putting away all of Rhia’s things, that now took up the once empty space.

As hard as it was for Denim being a new mother and dealing with a newborn, who barely slept throughout the night, she didn't want Rico to think she couldn't handle things. After cleaning, she checked on baby Rhia seeing her still asleep in her crib. Using this as her me time she hopped in the shower wanting to be fresh and clean for Rico when he arrived.

Grabbing her evenly gorgeous body wash by Caress, she soaped up her loofah then proceeded to scrub her body clean. Dealing with a newborn she’d been spit up on twice since the day had started. Denim exhaled as the hot water ran down her back soothing and relaxing her. Stepping out of the shower she quickly dried off and oiled her skin with Johnson Johnson’s baby oil.

Denim stared in the mirror and looked at her naked body. With tears clouding her eyes she quickly turned away to dress. Picking out a matching underwear set she settled for a simple white v neck and some black joggers. Turning back to the mirror she shook her head. Always having the body females dreamed of, she wasn't happy nor confident with the fact that she was now left with a slight pudge now in her stomach. Her toned stomach was now a thing of the past and she couldn't accept it.

Fixing her shirt, she shook her head in shame. There was a time that she could dress in an outfit as simple as hers and still shut shit down but now she felt discomfited. The more she looked at her reflection, the more she thought what would Rico say or how he would feel. Knowing that until she was able to get in the gym her old body would be nothing more than a memory.

Hearing Rhia’s cries and her phone ringing at the same time she sprang into action. Tending to Rhia, she rocked her until she was able to get her calm before answering the phone.

“Hello.”

“Hello. Hey, princess, we need to talk.”

“Hey, daddy. What we need to talk about, I just saw you yesterday,” she questioned, suspiciously.

“I'll be by there later to tell you. Now where my baby?” he asked and Denim laughed.

“She right here in my arms. You got her spoiled,” she said rolling her eyes dramatically.

Every day since she's been gone from the hospital her father has made it his mission to make time out his day and come see his baby as he put it. Denim honestly felt out of everyone he was the only person she could depend on so; it didn’t bother her. Even when he would hold her the entire time he was there.

“Okay, I'll be to see my baby later. kiss her for me. Love you.” he said all in one breath.

“Fine daddy. Just call before you come and bring me something to eat. Love you too.” Denim replied hanging up.

Denim waited three long hours before she finally realized Rico wasn't coming. Hurt was an understatement for how she felt. Tired of calling and texting him she decided this was the end. No more caring and looking like a fool. Not wanting to dwell on him being a no show. She cuddled up on the couch in her living room and watched cartoons with Rhia, who sat wide awake in her baby swing.

Fed up Denim decided to call Rico. Not to beg him to come and see his child but because she felt she deserved answers. Whether he came or not her child would be good.

“Hello.” Denim removed the phone from her ear and looked at it.

This dirty dog, she thought as she got back on the phone.

“Hello. Who is this?” Denim yelled.

Hearing another female voice on the phone infuriated her. Since she's known Rico, she had never known him to do the things he was now doings. But then again she probably never realized he'd been showing his true colors the entire time.

“Don't worry about that. Rico’s a little busy right now, I'll have him call you back. Maybe.”

Hearing this unknown woman laugh and then hang up had Denim on ten. Saying she as angry was putting how she felt lightly. She couldn't believe he was with another woman. A bold one at that.

Denim had to admit had she not been so angry she would have laughed it off and took the hoe for a joke but in the back of her mind she knew better.
