Turned Out By A Boss(21)

“Yes you are,” she faked a smile. “Hey how about we through a little welcome to the world party for the baby in a few days,” Sherika suggested.

“I think that's a good idea.” Her mother said causing her to smile because she actually had ulterior motives. “But for now, let's go. We going to meet my grand baby,” she said jumping for joy.

The entire ride to the hospital Sherika dreaded it. Yes, she did want to see her niece but she knew just like her mother that if Denim wanted them there, she would have called.

Arriving at the hospital, they stopped in the gift shop. After picking out balloons flowers and cards, they headed to Denim’s room. Walking into the room, Denim sat on the bed with her phone in her face.

“So you mean to tell me you couldn't call your mother?”

Denim

“Mom? What are you doing here?” Denim asked confused.

Denim knew that it had got out that she gave birth, but she didn't expect anyone to come see her let alone know what hospital she was staying in. After convincing Cree to leave she honestly thought this would be her time to relax with her daughter. The first chance she would get to actually bond with her baby girl as mother and daughter.

"I came to see my daughter and my grand baby. Where is she?” Their mother, Sheila, asked looking around in search of Rhia.

“She'll be back in about an hour. She's at the nursery, I asked the nurse to take her.”

"Who was with you while you gave birth?” Her mother asked getting comfortable in a chair beside her bed.

Rolling her eyes Denim knew these questions were coming. Her mother was as nosey as they came. “Cree. I didn't want anyone here with me because I didn't know how long I would actually be in labor.”

“Why was Cree here instead of your baby's father?” Sherika butted in.

This is why Denim didn't call them and the reason she mostly stayed to herself. Every time something happened in her life her mother and sister always find their way to weasel in and give an opinion that wasn't needed.

“He couldn't make it.”

Rico was still ignoring her text messages and calls even now that it was the next day. He sent a text to her this morning saying he would make it as soon as he could but then changed his mind saying he was busy. Shaking her head at his text, she knew this was gonna keep going on for as long as she would allow it to.

"Aww, she's so precious.”

“She's like a little doll baby. So cute.”

Snapping from her thoughts, she smiled seeing her mother and sister coo over a sleeping Rhia. The nurse had brought her back early, probably noticing the fact that Denim had visitors.

“When can we meet her dad, Denim?”

“Why is it important?”

“It was just a question, but look, Deena just texted me I have to go,” Sherika said rushing out the door after snapping a picture of Rhia.

Sheila sat in the chair shaking her head at her oldest daughter, as she cradled Rhia in her arms. She stared at her grandchild and smiled. Her looks weren't quite there yet being that she was only a day old but she was undeniably a beautiful baby.

“Let me find out you getting baby fever.” Denim teased.

“Girl, as old as I am ain't no babies coming out this body. As long as I got this pretty little diva to spoil I'll be just fine.”

“My daughter will not be rotten. Nope. I refuse to deal with a spoiled brat.” Denim protested.

Waving her off Sheila switched the subject. “Since Sherika’s not here tell me the truth. Who's her father?”

The question caught Denim off guard, but she knew better than to show it. Rhia had yet to get her looks so it's not like she could look and tell by the glance of the eye.

“Why?”

“Because a man doesn't miss the birth of their child unless they have another family at home to keep happy. So tell me.”

No matter how right her mother was, she was not gonna admit anything.

“What I do is my business, mom. I'm grown now, you don't pay any of my bills so you have no reason to question who I slept with and conceived my child for.” Denim lightly expressed.

“Denim be careful.”

Feeling as if something triggered her, Denim snapped. “What, like you? Don't give me advice mom because that's the last thing I need. Especially from you.”

“I'm just saying be careful. I know you better than you know yourself, so trust me when I tell you this little boy you hiding from us is hiding you as well.”

“You would know all about that right.” Denim hatefully spat.

“Why do you hate me so much?” her mother asked tears in her eyes.

“Why do I hate you so much? Oh trust, there are many reasons. Let's start with the fact that I'm your f*cking love child. Or how about when you used to lie and say we were going to the movies but it was just so you could go see uncle Deontae. That was his name right?” Denim asked looking at her with disgust and chuckled. It wasn't a happy chuckle but more so pissed off.

“Denim let it go. Okay? You want sympathy for nothing. Yes, I did my dirt but you have never not benefited from it nor have your dad made you feel different from Sherika and Angel.” Sheila reasoned.

“You don't know how I felt when I was little always wanting to know why I didn't look like you or why I was more developed then Sherika. Hell everybody knew daddy wasn't my daddy but me. That's why Sherika has always hated me. You know what give me baby and just go.” Denim cried.
