In Spite of the Bosset Life(6)
“This is so cute,” said Nola, looking in Majesty’s closet.
“I think Chanel bought those. I been thinking about letting my princess rock those for her first photo shoot.”
“Girl, these are hot,” said Nola, looking at the cute red bottom ballet soft bottoms. They had Majesty in real black diamonds and the rest was red gemstones.
“How Chanel doing anyway?”
“Girl, she’s better. Just taking it easy. Junior still in ICU. Chanel sent me a picture of the baby. He was so cute and looked like RaShad. It was just sad how small he was. The incubator looked so big.”
“I feel bad I couldn’t go see her. But I did call her. I’m going to send her and the baby some stuff sometime this week.” Chanel had been there a lot for me since Ace’s disappearance. The least I could do was send her a care package.
“Girl, she know if you could you would’ve been there. She ask about you all the time. RaShad too. Everybody really been worried about you and my niece,” said Nola, rubbing my big belly. I didn’t mind people rubbing my belly. I didn’t touch my belly that much anyway.
“I know. I gotta start doing better. Girl, Kori and Kash’s graduation is in a few weeks. I have to get them both a car,” I said, rolling my eyes. “I didn’t even tell you I sold my BMW.”
“Little sis graduating already! I can’t believe it. She has really grown.... WAIT! Why you selling your BMW?”
“It’s already sold. Girl, Ace’s accounts are frozen and so much shit was seized when they raided the house. My personal account that I had on the side is straight. Plus, the money Ace left was a good boost but not enough. Kash and Kori are graduating next month. That’s two kids’ prom, two cars, and two preparing to go to college. None of that is cheap. Ace kinda left at a bad time. I’m trying to see what’s up with his businesses. Looks like the furniture business is the only one I’ll be able to save. Plus, I’m due next month, girl.”
“I know when my sister due! You know if you needed anything to call me! You didn’t have to sell yo car, Koì. You not alone... I’m sending you some money tonight and I don’t wanna hear it. You know me and Sebastian got you.” It wasn‘t no use in refusing the money. I needed to pay the last of the kids’ fees at the private school. It seemed like bills were coming from everywhere. I needed to get back on game and drop this baby quick. I was glad Ace’s house and condo were both paid off. I was tempted to sell his condo but couldn’t bring myself to do it. It was Ace’s and he had it for so long. Just didn’t feel right to sell any of Ace’s stuff. Getting low on money was not happening. I had kids who desperately needed my support. I fear going broke and that alone stressed me the f*ck out!
“Thanks Nola. You a real friend. When I get my money back right, I’m paying you and Sebastian back for everything. I just hate asking people for help.” Ace’s whole family was hurting now that he was gone. I was the one who everyone called when they needed something. I had no idea they all depended on him like this. I’m talking about house notes, car notes, and insurance. Keeping the books full for his sister, paying her lawyer fees, and taking care of the one child she had. The twins were getting crazy money to blow each week as an allowance. That was all paid by Ace. I had no problem paying for any medical needs when it came to Big Momma but it was a strain as well. Sya never voiced it but she still threw shade about me not giving her no money. I made it clear I had to do for mines first and I wouldn’t be broke trying to help someone else. As long as Big Momma was good, I didn’t care. She could have my last, right along with my kids. The twins needed to understand the situation but I know everybody thought I was just being a bitch. Momma Dukes was letting those girls run over her now, since Ace was gone. They wasn’t about to do that shit to me.
His family started to turn their nose up but I refused to let Ace’s family run over me and take my money. It seemed the money I had was slowly getting sucked up now. Ace’s money that he left went to court fees and other lawyers that didn’t help my case. I was paying for my freedom one way or another. Thank God Abir stepped in because I probably would’ve went broke and got put under the jail.
“You’re welcome friend. Don’t worry about paying us back. You know I’m not like that. Take it as a gift. Anywho, I have to go. I have some clients to do.”
“Okay. I’ll see you later. Love you and thank you again,” I said, walking down the steps. Unni was mopping the kitchen floor. I held the rail wobbling down. I was big as hell in the front and back. I smiled thinking about how Ace would be so amazed at how his video vixen wife got this damn big. I wished he could see and touch my belly.
“Adios,” said Unni, fixing her apron and getting back to mopping.
“Bye Madre,” said Nola, opening the door. “I’ll send you that money tonight.”
“Okay girl. Bye bye,” I said closing and locking the door. Kash and Kori was at school and I decided to cook for them. I knew I was neglecting my motherly duties lately. I needed to find the new Koì because the old me was gone when M’Ace left.
Chapter 4
Momma Dukes was pulling up in the driveway. She had to take Big Momma to see a heart specialist today. Momma Dukes joined me immediately in the kitchen. She loved to cook, just like me. She was happy to see me out my bed and doing something other than crying or sleeping. We shared some good laughs as we prepared the kids’ favorite foods. Kash and Kori was very much surprised when they got home. They were happy to see me in a state other than crying my eyes out. I loved those kids as if I birthed them. They were mines and you couldn’t tell them I wasn’t their mommy.
