In Spite of the Bosset Life(35)
“Let me hold my baby,” I said, taking her out her daddy’s lap. “Smoochie, talk to Ma Ma…I’m right here.”
“My eel hurt Ma Ma,” said Majesty, pulling on her ear.
“Mommy’s going to get you some medicine to make you feel better. Everything’s going to be okay.” I kissed her ear and dried my tears. I wished I could take all the pain away. Seeing her like this was not good for me. I held her so tight and just rocked her.
“C’mon Mook,” said Ace, jumping out the truck and helping us out.
Ace had Dr. Edmonds and two other doctors waiting at the door for us. We didn’t go through the emergency part but another more private area. We were at the hospital all night with my baby. Come to find out, my baby had a febrile seizure. They ran every test on my baby that they possibly could. I hated the lumbar puncture the worst. It was a spinal tap and they injected anesthesia in her back. After, a spinal needle was inserted.
Basically, it wasn’t no treatment. Dr. Edmonds declared that we shouldn’t let her get a fever. If Majesty got a fever, we needed to bring it down quickly as possible before another seizure occurred. She promised Majesty would grow out of it. I wasn’t happy about this news at all. It broke my heart. I felt I did something wrong as a parent.
Ace stayed with his daughter the whole time. He made sure she got everything and the best care. Ace was right here and had Akamai bring us whatever we needed because he refused to leave. I was so used to taking care of Majesty by myself, I kinda excluded Ace out of everything. I peeped that out and started letting him do some things. Ace seemed hurt that I would just do whatever and not consult with him. Even though he would agree and sign off on things that needed signed.
Chapter 16
“You ready to go bye bye,” I said, sitting on the hospital bed. Majesty was sitting in between my legs watching Netflix on my phone.
“Yes Ma Ma. I’m wannn eat eat,” said Majesty, staring up at me. I kissed my baby’s lips.
“Mommy gon get you some food,” I said. Shortly after, we got her discharge papers. The ride home, Ace was silent. Ever since our fight and I declared I wanted a divorce, we hadn’t talked. Only time we did is if it had something to do with Majesty. We were at home and my princess was greeted with a hundred floating balloons. There was a statue of Dora made out of balloons just for her. Majesty jumped out my arms to go squeeze it. All I could do was smile.
“I wove it Ma Ma,” said Majesty. I was happy to see my baby feeling better. She still had an ear infection but her fever was gone. Just a mild cold that hopefully went away soon. I made sure to take her temperature regularly.
“Tell your Da Da thank you. This is really nice smoochie.”
“Not just me Smoochie. Ma Ma got you this too. I’m happy my baby liked it,” said Ace, giving her some flowers and kissing her. I was trying to give him some credit. Being Ace, he wanted to say the balloons came from both of us when I didn’t have a clue about it. I really felt bad now for acting like he was irrelevant at the hospital. I had to understand Ace would always be Ace and this was him. He loved his wife and daughter regardless.
“Ma Ma, my eel hurt,” said Majesty. I checked the time and sure enough, it was time for another dose of her medicine. I checked to see if Rodney texted me but he hadn’t.
“Ace, I’m gon need your help,” I said, taking off my Jordans. “Are you gonna help or sit on your phone?” I grabbed the medicine and read the instructions. In the past, it was damn near unbearable to give her medicine. One time, it took me, Unni, and Nola to give her some medicine. Majesty was that bad.
“Hand it here.”
“Majesty…” She came peaking around the corner. She heard me say something about medicine and got ghost on us. I cracked a smile at her and tried not to laugh. “Smoochie, come here so I can take yo shirt off,” I said, joining Ace in the living room. He was once again on his phone. He quickly gave me and his daughter all of his attention. Ace should’ve got the daddy of the year award. I didn’t know how but Majesty took the medicine with no problem. I was shocked and jealous. Majesty always put up a fight with me.
“She loves her dada,” said Ace, whispering. Majesty was taking a nap on his chest and he too was drifting off. I was putting Majesty’s medicine up, feeling heated. I put the medicine in the fridge and returned back to the living room.
“Ace, we need to talk,” I said, talking to myself. It was no use. Ace was dead sleep. I decided not to wake him since Majesty was asleep on his chest. I stood up and Ace’s phone caught my eye. I felt the urge to pick it up but I wasn’t that woman. Snooping through your nigga’s phone is not cute. Definitely not your husband. I started to think though. Ace and I was getting a divorce so it wasn’t like I was trying to find things to end it with. It was already over and done with. Maybe looking through his phone and laptop wouldn’t be so bad.
My sneaky ass had his IPhone, IPad, and the mutha fuking Mac! I kinda didn’t want to go through it once I saw our wedding pictures as his screen savers. On his home screen was photo collages of me as well. I didn’t have a problem getting in none of the devices because he used our kissing anniversary for everything. That was easy to remember. I pushed all that to the side and got on my detective shit.
I searched through everything! I was looking in call logs, messages, emails, and even alarms. How I was acting seemed like I was trying to find a cure for cancer. When all I was just trying to find was dirt on Ace and see what had been having this nigga’s attention. Due to all the tension between us, I hadn’t given this nigga no booty but when I needed to be topped off, which wasn’t much. After Majesty was born, my sex drive decreased, which I was NOT happy about. I missed f*cking like rabbits.
