Turned Out By A Boss(43)

“Boy stop. You passed crazy.” Denim joked.

They drove the rest of the way back to the hotel in a comfortable silence. The ride was a lengthy one from Queens all the way to Manhattan. They both used the time to get lost in their thoughts.

Denim stared out the window looking at all the cars they passed while in traffic. Having a debate with herself in her head about if she wanted to meet up and speak to Rico alone or not. As much as Denim was looking forward to the sit down just to get a better understanding she was nervous. However, she needed to know as to why Rico was acting the way he was. Even with going forward to have communication with one another. Denim was scared of the outcome their talk would have.

The sit down could go one or two ways and she honestly dreaded both. As much as she would love for Rico to take full responsibility. She knew that it may cause friction between her and Kuazie. And also the relationship they were working on.

Kuazie had gotten so close to Rhia in so little time. It was very obvious that he had taken to her as if she was his own child. Taking on the parent role. The last thing she wanted was for Rico to finally come to his senses then problems occur in her relationship because of Rico’s actions. She would never want Kuazie to feel like he had no purpose in Rhia’s life being that Rico may decide to step up and take full responsibility as a father.

“Do we have to go out?” Denim asked.

They had just gotten back to the hotel and Kuazie could sense something was off about her. He didn't know what exactly it was but he was determined to find out.

“Why? What's wrong?” he questioned with concern spread on his face.

“Nothing.”

Not wanting to talk about it she shrugged the conversation off before it even really began.

She sat on the bed with Rhia laying in her lap as she scrolled through her phone. Reading a text that came through her phone she sighed. Cree had wanted her to stop by so that they could sit down and talk.

The hell she wants to talk about, Denim thought as she simply replied to the text with a thumbs up.

“Where you going?”

Denim rolled her eyes as she grabbed her phone turning her music up as she looked through her clothes. Pulling on a grey and black PINK by Victoria secret sweat suit. Ignoring him completely she paired her sweat suit with her all black Jordan’s.

“Turn that damn song and answer me.”

Laughing Denim sat on his lap lightly pecking his lips careful not to mess up or smudge her lip gloss. Putting her arms around his neck, she began singing the lyrics to the song to him.

Tell me lies, tell me lies

Make it all sound good

Make me believe that fairy tales

Can happen in the hood

And when I get my heart involved

Decide to let my guards down

Show me that you're just like them all

I shouldn't of trusted you around

Say you don't wanna lose me, you just can't afford it

Say you would do anything for me cause you feel I deserve it

Tell me you'll never treat me like the guys in my past

Say that you can guarantee that we're gonna last

Say how I'm the only girl you've ever felt this way about

Say how you ain't never had these feelings for somebody else

Then tell me how much I'm different, there's no one like me out here

Tell me what I wanna hear

“I gotta go, babe. Let me get Rhia’s things together.” Denim said easing off his lap as he held her waist.

Telling her no and that Rhia was fine with him Kuazie let her go. Denim thought about it for a while before agreeing. She could already see a problem brewing. Kuazie was attached and the love he had for Rhia you could see in his eyes whenever he spoke about it and looked at her.

“Go on and talk to your friend. Besides the way you've expressed to me how you were feeling towards ol’ girl right now. My baby doesn't need to be around that.” he added.

It was no secret that Denim had ill feelings towards Cree. She felt that as a best friend Cree wasn't doing her duties. This was one talk she was ready to put out there on the table.

"Man, I hope this girl ain't on no bullshit,” Denim said to herself. Walking straight into Cree’s house Denim shook her head. This girl lives in the middle of the hood and forever got her door unlocked.

Looking around se noticed the visible changes Cree made. Where there once were pictures of her and Daryl was now no longer there. Just like the furniture he spent over four thousand dollars on no longer graced her living room.

“Cree.” Denim yelled walking through the home she once was so comfortable in but now felt like a stranger.

“Whatever Rah. Don't even come back here. I'm sick of this shit. You put me through so much repeatedly and I continue to be the fool. Nah, but not no more.” Cree yelled on the phone. “I already told you if you can't love me and make me happy I can't be with you,” she cried.

Denim sat on her bed just listening as Cree pleaded to her supposed man. Getting tired of hearing the two go back and forth she snatched the phone from Cree’s hand. “Look she'll call you back later. Okay.” Denim said before hanging up.

Cree looked at her and just shook her head. She couldn't even be mad because she would do the same thing if the roles were reversed. Besides she'd done it plenty times in the past when it came to Denim and Rico.
