Love At First Glance (Love at Firsts #1)(73)

I walk over to him, set Bernard’s crate down and hug his waist. “I love you.”

“I love you,” he whispers in my ear and kisses my head.

“This is amazing and it’s nice of him to let us stay here for a couple of days.”

“It is, wait ‘til you see the inside and the back patio.” He grins and picks up our bags

“Just the front porch is amazing. I can’t even imagine the inside. Who has such a massive cabin in the woods though?” I chuckle.

“Valentine. He said he built it with his father when he was a teenager. Valery wanted a tree house but their parents didn’t approve because she was so accident prone, which reminds me of someone, any-”

“Hey! I’m not accident prone,” I say as I trip up the last step but managed to regain my balance.

“You were saying?” He chuckles.

“Go on with your story.” I groan.

“As I was saying, she was accident prone so they decided to work on a cabin out here, but what started as a simple cabin turned into this massive thing. When Valentine made it big he turned it in a place where you could actually live.”

“I want one!” I chuckle.

“Well, he said we could come whenever we wanted,” he says as he unlocks the front door.

“No, I mean I want one in your backyard, like a little den. That’d be awesome.” I beam.

“Only if you agree to come and live with me again.” He grins sheepishly. “That way I’d have you by my side all the time.”

“And I’d be away from Valentine.” I look at him.

“That too.” He chuckles. “I’m not starting that again. I just don’t like him sleeping a few inches away from you when I live miles away.” He frowns.

“We already had this conversation you big baby, I’m not moving out of my place. At least not until my lease is up.” I shrug.

“And when is that?”

“Eighteen months.”

“What? You seriously expect me to wait eighteen months for you to move back in with me? You’ve gotta be f*cking kidding me,” he mutters the last part.

“No, I’m not. Stop whining or I’ll make it twenty four.”

“Bitch.” He grins.

“Dickhead.” I chuckle.

“I love you.”

“I love you more.”

“That’s not true or you’d be moving in with me when we get back on Wednesday.”

“Spence, I love you, you know that. You’re never getting rid of me so stop freaking out. I’ll move in with you at some point. It’ll be a complete surprise, you’ll just see my stuff in your living room one day and think ‘oh shit, what have I done, why on earth did I ask her to move in with me?’ and guess what?”

“What?” He looks at me confused and amused.

“It’ll be too late. I’ll be there for good and you won’t be able to get rid of me.” I shrug and open the door. My jaw drops when I see the interior. It’s almost too luxurious to be just a cabin in the woods. There’s a massive L shaped couch that rests against the left wall with an old wooden box for a coffee table. The entire place is open plan with the kitchen at the far end of the place and opposite the couch is the TV and a narrow ladder that leads up to a mezzanine with a big mattress and pillows under a skylight window. There’s also a dining room table between the couch and the kitchen.

“I’ll never want to get rid of you.” He smiles and kisses my shoulder whilst wrapping his arms around my waist. “What do you think?”

“I love it, it’s so beautiful. Are we really staying here for four days?”

“Yes.” He smiles and kisses my neck.

“It’s perfect,” I say in awe.

“You haven’t seen the best part yet.” He laces our fingers and leads me to a door at the opposite side of the house by the kitchen and unlocks it. We walk through the door and I see a big hot tub sitting in the corner of a deck that overlooks the lake. This is a picture perfect postcard view with the lake being surrounded by trees whose leaves are turning beautiful shades of orange and red.

“Can we use it?” I grin.

“Yes. We’re definitely taking advantage of this for the next few days.” He kisses my hand.

“We won't be leaving the cabin for the next few days, right?” I kiss him softly.

“Not unless you want to go hiking?” He grins.

“Fuck hiking.” I grumble.

“That’s what I thought.”

“We could take a walk around the lake though, it looks beautiful.” I smile.

“Sounds like a good idea. We should get that out of the way so I can have you naked in my arms for the rest of our time here.” He chuckles and leads me back inside.

“Is getting me naked the sole reason you brought me here?” I question, raising my eyebrow.

“No, but this is an amazing place to be naked.” He chuckles and shrugs.

We quickly unpack the little Spencer did pack which mainly consists of food to last us for a couple of days, toiletries and minimum clothing, just a couple of sweatpants, shirts and underwear.

It’s going to be amazing spending time with just him, no cellphone, no Internet, no outside distractions. Just me and Spencer in our own little bubble.
