In Spite of the Bosset Life(17)

I dropped Majesty off and went to the office. Ace’s furniture store was located here and in six other locations. One location was in Italy and Hawaii. I found that out when I first met him. The company specialized in custom foreign furniture. Now we had the best and largest market shares in the state of Missouri, thanks to me. I basically worked behind the scenes. I made Ace’s furniture store worth over twenty million dollars with only one hundred and fifty stores nationwide now. I expanded his six stores to one hundred and fifty!

Competitors usually had a good five hundred stores but was worth around the same amount as us. I made sure my stores were placed in the right places. I did my research and picked places where the most people moved. When you moved, you usually needed furniture. So, I did deals with real estate companies and developers. I worked my ass off and made Ace’s company.

“Koì, did you ever look at those numbers?” asked Abir, interrupting me. He would come to the office just to see me work, which I didn’t like. I sat at Ace’s desk doing my daily work. I had on my sheer Phillip Lim suit and wore my hair in a cute high bun. I wore little to no makeup. Ace always said I was beautiful without it, so I didn’t wear it much. “I need you to sign those contracts, so we can move on that...did you look at it?”

“Yes,” I said, not looking up at him. “I can’t talk right now. I’m really loaded with work.”

“But I want to talk to you,” said Abir, coming in my office and closing the door. I became a little uncomfortable with Abir shutting the door. He now had my attention. Akamai had gone to take some stuff out back, so I knew he didn’t see Abir just walk in.

“So, you came to my place of business for what? I know you don’t want to talk about no damn marketing numbers and contracts that I told you I wasn’t signing,” I said agitated. Abir owned his share of businesses, but was using his Monday to work on my nerves. Like, why couldn’t he just leave me alone?

“The business I helped you keep. Don’t forget the hand that feed yo hungry ass,” said Abir, grabbing my face. “You gon learn to talk to me like you got some f*cking sense. You black bitches can be so untenable sometimes. But I got something for you,” said Abir, forcing his lips on mines. I quickly tried to get his lips off mines. I hadn’t kissed another man since Ace. I could see me and Ace’s wedding pictures high up on the wall and tears begin to fall. Abir ripped at my clothes, forcing his hand between my legs.

“Get away from me! STOP! Security! HELPPP!” I screamed. I was able to push the bottom that was located right under Ace’s desk. Akamai rushed in, busting down the door. Akamai quickly put Abir in some kind of move and had him begging to let him go. I fixed my suit and stood up with tears in my eyes.

“If you ever! I mean, ever, come near me again, I will kill you,” I said, meaning every word. Abir presented himself as a charming loving man but was the devil. For years, he helped me, provided knowledge for Ace’s business, and was my shoulder to cry on. Now, he was nothing more than a ghost to me that gave me the creeps.

“Get out!” yelled Akamai in his thick Hawaiian accent. Abir fixed his suit and just gave me an evil glare. He didn’t stand a chance against Akamai. I picked up the papers around me and prepared to leave. I needed to hold my baby girl and get out this office. Akamai punched him so hard, I felt like he hit my ass. I turned my head and got my shit to go.

“Stay away from that man! I want no contact,” said Akamai, growing pissed. I never saw him get like this before. I guess catching another grown man trying to take advantage of a women is not something you saw every day. I didn’t say anything because I was at loss of words. Abir turned out to be something I never thought he would be. A f*cking monster.

“I don’t want to see yo ass again! This is my life! Not a f*cking game! And hell no! I’ll never be your friend,” I said, hanging up on Abir.

Abir was blowing my phone up and sending a million text messages. I had to pull over and clear my eyes. I turned my phone off and got back on the road. I picked Majesty up from school early because I needed my baby. She was the only thing going right. Nola was blowing me up now on my other phone. Abir probably thought I was going to the police and decided to call Nola to see if I was or not. I ignored her and went to Global Food Market. Kori was visiting today and I knew she would want me to cook. Ace had got me hooked on this store. You could find food from all over.

Once I got what I needed, I had Akamai pick Kori up from the landing strip and I went home to start diner. I hadn’t saw my sister in two long months. She had just finished her exams and was now able to chill. She would be home for a couple of days than she would be flying somewhere with her friends from school. I think Miami or Myrtle Beach.

Chapter 9

“Majesty, if you want to help, go wash your hands. I told you already,” I said, moving her along. She always wanted to help me cook. I didn’t mind but she had to wash her little fingers.

“Okay ma ma. I be right back,” said Majesty, running off. She was such a hand full.

“I guess I’ll wash mines too,” said Nola, walking into my kitchen. I didn’t hear her come in but didn’t expect to. The house was so big and I was so busy trying to start dinner. She went to the counter and sat her black Celine bag down and went to the sink. She placed her ring to the side and started washing her hands.
