In Spite of the Bosset Life(19)

“Y’all ready to eat?” I asked. They all dropped their conversation and rushed to the dining room table.

“Where’s ChaCha?” I asked. Kash and her had been going strong. She stayed by his side through everything. She was his backbone. When Kash cheated and got some girl pregnant, ChaCha still stayed. I applauded her because I didn’t see how she could do it. Kash made that chick get an abortion fast. He was afraid ChaCha would leave him and he didn’t want that.

“At home. She hasn’t been feeling good.”

“Ohh well, tell her I’ll see her at the shop whenever,” I said, taking my seat at the head of the table.

“Who praying?” asked Kash, ready to eat.

“You, since you so damn hungry boy,” said Kori. I looked at her and she quickly apologized. I didn’t allow people to cuss, drink, or none of that in front of my daughter.

“Kori, you pray, since you seem like you need it fa dat mouth of yours,” I said, eyeing her. She went ahead and prayed with no hesitation. We ate good and spent family time together. Nola had to leave early because she had to get back with her own family. I didn’t mind and thanked her for coming.

“Mom, c’mere. Kash got something to tell you!” said Kori, yelling into the foyer.

“What you gotta tell me Baby Boy,” I said, going into the front room that no one ever visited. I sat down and fixed my baby girl’s clothes. She was sound asleep on the white couch.

“I got ChaCha pregnant,” said Kash in one breath.

“Kash, what! Babyboy...no Babyboy,” I said, putting my hands on my face. He knew better. He knew to wrap up every time. I thought he learned his lesson. I guess this time was different because it was ChaCha and not some hoe he just f*cked.

“Momma, don’t be mad. I’m sorry,” said Kash, getting up and hugging me. I was so disappointed in him. First he dropped out of school, then he starts selling drugs, and now he gets ChaCha pregnant. I didn’t know what to do. I was going to be in my twenties with a grandbaby. Where they do that at?

“I’m not mad, Kash. You just know better. You gotta start thinking. The choices you make affects everybody. You didn’t learn that from yo daddy?”

“No offense, daddy did more yelling at me than teaching.”

“Kash, don’t say that,” said Kori, going to her daddy’s defense. She didn’t let no one talk bad about Ace. She didn’t care who you were. Momma Dukes couldn’t even say shit and she was his momma.

“Sorry sis but that’s the truth. He wasn’t hard on you like he was on me. He disciplined me way worse than you. Tell me a time when Ace yelled at you or punched you in yo shit?”

“He didn’t,” said Kori, becoming honest. “But still, Kash. Don’t diss him like he never did nothing for you.”

“Look, y’all gon wake Majesty up now. Kash, we will talk later. Kori, I know you want to see your friends, so I’ll see you tomorrow,” I said, picking up Majesty. Kash and Kori kissed me and Majesty before getting their stuff to leave.

Ace left me with all this stress to deal with by myself. I had two young adults that leaned on me, I was running Ace’s business, Abir was on some other shit, I was running after a three-year-old by myself, and just found out I was gonna be a damn grandma. I was done for the day.

“Sorry momma, again. Also, can you loan me some money? I’m kinda jammed up right now and I’m short this month. I didn’t want to ask ChaCha because I’m a man and she pregnant.”

“I’ll send it to your account,” I said, going up stairs. Anytime the kids needed money, I was always there. I gave them whatever they needed because I thought that was being a good parent.

Chapter 10

Everything around me was becoming too much. I took my daughter and left St. Louis for a good two weeks. We flew to Disney Land and chilled there. We stayed at the Bay Lake Tower resort. We had the one-bedroom villa and the theme park view. Majesty wasn’t scared of Mickey or Minnie. We ate at Chef Mickey’s almost every day. Majesty was obsessed with Minnie and Mickey. I decided once we got home I would surprise her and change her room up. She had the Dora theme, as of now, but I think she found her new best friend at Disneyland.

Majesty made me take her on this jungle cruise every day. She loved animals. She also wasn’t afraid of heights like her daddy. She threw a big temper tantrum all because she wasn’t big enough to ride the Splash Mountain. Majesty got mad when I just laughed at her. She was so cute and a drama queen. I tried to explain that she had to wait until she got taller then she could ride everything. My smoochie was not going for it. She kept saying I broke her heart, which I thought was funny. She was only three and so full of it. We were overall having great daughter and mommy time.

Everyone was so worried and kept calling to check up on me. I Facetimed everyone, so they could see me and Majesty was perfectly fine. Majesty was having a ball and trying to get do everything. I just needed a break from St. Louis before I broke down. Majesty was all I had and I was all she had. I had to make this work and still give my daughter a perfect life. I owed it to her. She was going to know I loved her and would do anything for her at any cost. She didn’t ask to be here.

I hadn’t spoken to Abir in months. I was happy about that but I would catch myself waiting for that pop up. I was a little worried but Akamai promised he wouldn’t come near me. I did speak to Rodney though. We had been having playdates with our kids almost every week now. Baby Rodney and Majesty got along so well! They played and ate together like long lost friends. Majesty would be so happy when we went to the play dates and I loved seeing my little girl all happy. It made me happy. I had no choice but to allow the play dates to continue.
