What Doesn't Destroy Us (The Devil's Dust #1)(38)

“I’m going to cum, Dani,” he whimpers in warning as his back inclines off the bed. I don’t slow down. I grab at his balls and continue to suck him halfway down my throat. Suddenly, salty warm fluid spills into my mouth. He tastes amazing; I milk him of every drop. I feel him fall back down on the bed, huffing and puffing.

He pulls the sheet off me. “Do you have a f*cking gag reflex? Holy shit!” I smile at him, not sure what to say. I have never done anything like that. I’ve just seen it in smutty films when I was home alone. Looks like I can please my man better than a whore, judging by his reaction.

I hear a ring coming from the floor and Shadow gets up off the bed to grab it. His body is so sexy; I don’t think I will ever get used to his god-like perfection.

“Yeah,” he answers. “What time is it? Oh shit... Yeah, I coming now.” He stuffs the phone back into his jeans pocket, grabs his briefs off the floor, and starts to shimmy his legs into them.

“It’s near noon. I gotta get to church, babe.” He pulls his pants on and looks around the room for his shirt and cut. His bed-head hair suits him so well and my fingers itch to play in it.

He leans over and kisses me on the lips before he hops to the door, battling to put on a boot. I can't help but giggle.

I hate that we have to hide. I'm sure my mom will blow up, probably even threaten to burn this place down. I say go for it, I have finally found a place I belong and I'm not about to turn my back on it.

Shadow's words from last night come to mind: ‘I won’t let you go, and I sure as hell won’t let you go back to New York.’

Honestly, I don’t think Shadow would let my mother take me, and I’m glad because I don’t want to go back. This is my home now, and I think she knows deep down that this has always been my home.

I guess I should get a shower, though I hate to wash the smell of Shadow off of me. I get a shower and brush my teeth with Shadow's brush again, I put on my pink lace bra with matching underwear, some khaki colored shorts and a yellow tank top. I walk out and spot Babs behind the counter.

“There you are. I'll make you whatever you want this morning; you name it.” Her tone is a little more enthusiastic than I was expecting.

“The Club Princess has arrived. Babs, you better make her what she wants or you may end up with a black eye.” Locks winks at me. Shit, the whole club knows about what happened between Candy and I. I look over at the meeting room to find open doors. Looks like church was quick this morning.

I try and paste on a smile, but my fear is that if the whole club knows, then my mother has probably heard as well. Shit. I don’t think I can lie myself out of this one.

Shadow comes in the door covered in grease and sits down next to Bobby. The grease on him makes him look so rugged; I’m drooling for another round in the bedroom with him.

“Well, if it isn’t the Club Princess,” he smirks at me; smart ass. But, man he is a sexy smart ass.

“You should have seen it, Babs, it was like fire flying across the room.” Bobby looks at me with a sudden awe in his face. “Like a firefly.”

“Oh, I like that; Princess Firefly,” Babs nods in agreement.

“I could see her as a firefly,” Shadow agrees.

“Wait, what?” The whole conversation confuses me.

“Your 'road name', nickname, what have you,” Babs clarifies.

My dad walks in through the club door. “Dani, follow me.” His tone is flat and his face is impassive. I’m sure he knows about Candy; shit.

I follow him into the chapel and sit down at a huge wooden table. He sits at the head of the table, leans back in his chair, and lights a cigarette. He sits there playing with his red lighter, not even looking at me. The awkward silence gets the best of me so I look around the room. Ten chairs are scattered around the table and I wonder which one Shadow's fine ass graces during “church”. There’s a fan in the window behind me and the wall I'm facing has frames with worn cuts in them.

“Fallen members,” my father answers, watching me look at each of the frames.

“You want to explain what happened to Candy?” His voice is calm and eerie, snapping me from the frames. I can’t tell him that I am jealous of Candy; that I want to be a part of Shadow's world. I start picking at the worn table, not sure what to say.

“She has a broken nose and stitches in her cheek. Judging by the scratches on your cheek and knuckles, I know you did it. What I don't know is why?” He takes a long drag from his cigarette, blows a puff of smoke into the air, then looks right at me. I’ve not seen this side of my father before; he is usually so tender and caring. Right now, his voice is strong and wicked. It’s scary as shit.

“You guys fighting over one of my boys, Dani? They know better than to come near you. If I find out this is over one of the guys, it won’t be pretty. You're club property and- “

“She said I didn’t belong here, and that I didn’t deserve to wear the Devil's Dust shirt I was wearing. I just snapped. I didn’t even realize what I did until I was pulled off her.” I spoke loudly, interrupting him on his rant. I didn’t want to give him the chance to over think things or piece things together and take Shadow away before I even got the chance to have him. I mean, I told part of the truth; she was trying to chase me out of here like mom, and it did really piss me off.
