Uniting the Souls (Souls of Chicago #6)(26)
“Would you like to dance?” I asked him. He turned his head quickly, giving me a shocked look.
“Uh, yeah. Sure,” he said.
We stood and I caught Hudson’s smile as we moved around the table and out onto the dance floor. I found an open spot and turned to face Isaac. It had been ages since I’d been dancing, but it all came back to me as I began to move, and soon, I was lost in the music and the feel of Isaac’s body brushing up on mine as he circled around me. He obviously loved to dance and was very good at it. He danced with a fluid grace, his movements sensual and provocative.
Isaac was always friendly and honest, but as he danced, he let go and became freer than I’d ever seen him. The sight was breathtaking and as the music changed to a slower song, I couldn’t stop myself from grabbing his hips and pulling him closer to me. His body was surprisingly firm against mine and I groaned when I felt his hard length against my leg. He tried to pull away, obviously embarrassed that I’d felt his desire, but I slid my arms around his waist, bringing him even closer to me.
“You are so sexy and you feel so good against me,” I told him. I could tell that my words shocked him, but I saw no reason to take them back because they were true. “Why do you look surprised?”
“I’m just having trouble believing any of this is real,” he replied.
“It’s very real,” I assured him, thrusting my hips against his. I heard his quick gasp when he felt my own aching hardness pressing against him, leaving no doubt about how much I wanted him. I stared down at his beautiful face, the pale freckles over a creamy complexion and the long lashes that framed the innocent eyes looking back at me.
“I’ve been attracted to you for so long, but I never thought you would see me the same way,” Isaac whispered.
Excitement ran through my veins at the desire I saw in his eyes. It had been way too long since anyone had looked at me that way and it woke something up in me that I wasn’t sure could be contained, or if I even wanted to. It made me feel good, it made me feel wanted, and it made me feel alive.
“I’ve had my reasons for holding back, but trust me, Isaac, I see you. I see what an amazing, sexy, and desirable man you are,” I assured him.
Going off pure instinct, I bent down and covered his lips with mine. We swallowed each other’s groans as fire raced through my veins. Isaac’s hands slid up around my neck and I felt his fingers run through my hair as I gave myself over to the kiss. I couldn’t believe that this man, my friend, had been waiting there the entire time and I’d almost missed it.
I ended the kiss before I could get too carried away and smiled when he muttered a curse. I licked my lips, savoring the sweet taste of him and then looked over to where Hudson sat watching us, his eyes dark and hooded with desire. Seeing his heated reaction gave me the confidence I needed and I crooked my finger at him, inviting him in the same way he had when I’d caught him and Isaac kissing.
Hudson didn’t run away like I had, however. Instead, his lips pulled up in a wolfish grin and he rose from his seat and sauntered towards us. The look in his eyes was predatory and I felt Isaac’s body shiver against mine as he looked over his shoulder, watching the man who would make us his prey.
I felt like I was stuck in a dream, one that I never wanted to wake up from. My head was spinning with the unbelievable knowledge that Matt, the man I had secretly had a crush on for years, actually wanted me too. And that kiss! I had spent nearly every night wondering what it would be like to feel his lips on mine, his body pressed against me in a passionate embrace, but the reality was so much better than I could’ve ever imagined.
Matt’s kiss was different from Hudson’s, but every bit as toe-curling. Hudson’s kisses were all-consuming, like he wanted to feast on me and devour me whole. His kisses left me shaken and weak in the knees. The kiss I shared with Matt was just as passionate, but in a completely different way. Instead of pulling everything he could from me, Matt poured himself into our kiss, filling me with all of the want and need he had inside of him. More than ever, I wondered what it would be like to have both of them at the same time. To allow Hudson to take what he wanted from me while Matt filled me back up.
In the flashing lights of the club, I could see the evidence of our kiss on Matt’s swollen, red lips and I wanted to pull him towards me for another, not caring that others might be watching. Matt’s attention had been drawn to something behind me and I glanced over my shoulder to see what it was. Goose bumps broke out across my skin when I saw Hudson coming our way and the look on his face told me that he had one goal in mind.
Hudson wanted to lay claim.
I felt flushed and shaky and I wondered how it was possible that I was still standing, much less moving to the music. I moved my hands down to grip Matt’s biceps in order to steady myself as Hudson approached. Matt reached one hand up to cup my chin, turning my head so I was looking back at him.
“Are you okay, Isaac?” he asked gently.
I wasn’t sure I could speak just then so I simply nodded. Matt searched my face, looking for any sign that I wasn’t telling the truth, but he must’ve believed me because he bent down to brush his lips against mine once more. It was just a whisper of a kiss, but I knew it was his way of reassuring me.
Just then, I felt Hudson’s body press up against mine. Our height difference had his denim-covered erection pushing against my lower back and I gasped in surprise. I couldn’t see Hudson’s face from my position, but the look on Matt’s face said it all.
