Haunted(56)

Her head turned to Berg.

No, not Berg.

“You f*cked Berg!” Berg’s date called out. “I’m out of here.”

And Berg’s date walked out the door. I did feel bad about Berg’s date, sort of. It was a good thing that Roman hired one of his roadies to be our designated taxi service.

“Your turn, Paul! Take your slut and get the hell out of my house!” I yelled at him.

“Bitch, you’re just jealous because I was Roman’s go-to when he needed to f*ck someone’s brains out. I bet he misses that. Younger, hotter, skinnier women to f*ck all night long! Now he only has an old hag to f*ck. Roman, you poor baby, call me when you get lonely.”

“Candy, you need to shut the f*ck up! Get the hell out of my house, and if I ever see you around my wife again–” Roman yelled.

I actually thought Roman was going to jump her, but Berg restrained him.

“You’ll what?” She looked at him with these big pouty lips.

Eve walked up beside me. “He will get me to kick your scrawny little ass! You understand, bitch? There will be no more f*cking Roman, and there will be no more f*cking Berg. You got it whore?”

Oh f*ck, did Eve say what I think she did? Eve was jealous that Berg had f*cked this woman. Finally, maybe Eve would finally notice that Berg had been waiting on the sidelines for her.

I looked at Berg and Roman. Roman was still trying to get out of Berg’s arms to deal with Candy, but what made the situation hilarious was that Berg had a big-ass grin on his face. He looked as though he’d understood Eve’s insinuation. Eve was jealous and he was ecstatic.

Berg released his grip on Roman and ran his fingers through his hair. Roman walked over to Paul.

“Get the f*ck out of my house. You might be in the band, and that’s fine, but if you ever bring Candy to an event or a show where the band is, you are fired. Do you understand? And never, ever, bring drugs into my house again. As for you Candy,” he walked over to her and spoke in a low serious tone, “you are a whore. I f*cked you because you were there, nothing more. As for you calling Beth a hag, you don’t know shit.” He leaned closer to her and whispered, “Beth is a better lay than you ever were and she is tighter than all of your overly stretched holes. You are just a jealous cunt. Deep down, you wish you were in Beth’s place.” He stepped away from her but looked her directly in her eyes. Roman was as cold as ice. Tears welled in her eyes and I felt sorry for her.

“Fuck all of you!” she yelled as she walked out my front door

I turned to Jensen.

“You got drugs on you?” I asked in a perfectly calm voice.

“Aye,” he nodded.

“Same rules apply. Get out of my house. Take your date with you.”

Jensen nodded and took his date’s hand. Roman was at the door making sure everybody who needed to leave was going. Jensen whispered something in Roman’s ear and Roman smirked.

“Sorry there, Beth. I hope you invite me next time, and I will make sure I’m a good lad.” He smiled at me and winked.

I nodded and walked into the kitchen. I took a shot of Jose Cuervo, because he was a friend of mine. I walked out to the swimming pool area where the girls were.

“Give me a cigarette!”

Chapter 43 – Roman

I stood on the front porch, watching the van pull away. I couldn’t believe I invited them to our house. It was confusing. I had grown up a lot this past year and it was way past due. I couldn’t believe I’d put Joey’s custody in danger. It never occurred to me. Fuck! Was Beth pissed at me? I knew Beth loved me, but there was one person she loved more, and that was her son.

“You okay?” Berg asked me. He must have been able to tell my distress by the look on my face. I shrugged.

“You? Sorry about your date.”

“She was just a date. I wasn’t looking for anything serious.” Berg glanced down.

Oh, Berg would want serious if he had a chance with the right girl. Maybe a girl named Eve.

I patted him on the back as we stood outside for a few more minutes.

“Are you worried about what Candy said to Beth?”

I held my fingers up and separated them an inch apart, showing him I was a bit concerned.

“I personally think Beth totally kicked ass and took names. She has so much more confidence since you guys bought this house. I don’t really know what clicked with her, but I think she realized that you really do love her and you aren’t going anywhere.”

“But I have always loved her.”

“I know that and you know that, but for someone not in the music scene, I get it. Perfect example, tonight, look at Candy. She is smokin’ hot and would and did give it up easily to us. I understand why Beth would look at that like a threat. I imagine it would be hard for any normal people not in the scene, you know?”

“Yeah, I need to talk to her. Need for her to know that that doesn’t appeal to me anymore.”

“Go find her and tell her. It will make you both feel better. Hey, what did Jensen say as he walked out the door?” Berg asked.

“He told me he changed his mind about Beth, and he would totally shag her.” I smiled at Berg while pushing back my hair.

“Huh. I am surprised you didn’t punch him.”

“Nah, it was his way of saying he sees what I see in her.”
