Wild Chance (Wild Irish Universe)(14)

“You sound very possessive in bed.”

“If you don’t want that, or can’t see yourself like that, then tell me on Friday and no hard feelings.”

“You have a deal.”

“Oh, a stórín. You should seriously think about this.” Aedan leaned forward all the while sliding a palm against the back of her neck. He drew her into him then and took her lips, shaking at the fire that raged through him when their mouths touched. He couldn’t stop the need to plunder her mouth with his tongue, swirling it around her own and growling like a beast in heat when she gave in to him.

A loud horn honked somewhere, and he jerked back from her, his chest heaving. “You should go inside.”

“Friday.”

“Yes—Friday.”

“Is it radio silence until then?” Mona asked.

“No. I know you’re a busy woman. Call me tomorrow when you get a chance.”

Mona smiled brightly at him and turned for the door.

“Hey, a stórín?”

“Mmm?” Mona faced him once more.

Aedan lifted the helmet she’d been using and handed it to her. “This is yours.”

“You got me a helmet?”

“Yes—I want you to ride with me…”

“And only you?”

Aedan bowed his head, his cheeks heated. He barely knew this woman and already he was claiming her. The thing about that realization as that he didn’t feel bad about it—not even a little bit. Already the thought of her being with another man angered him more than he cared to admit. When she stepped forward and claimed the helmet, he lifted his head. In a way, he knew what taking the helmet meant.

Hell, he was probably reading too much into it.

“You don’t have to answer that.” She offered him an easy out. “Your reaction says it all. I think, Aedan Callahan you’re badass when it comes to a fight. But, if I play my cards right, you could be my undoing.”

Her words stunned him. Before he could say anything, she already had her door open and was stepping in. Aedan simply let her go, knowing she had been right with one thing—he could be her undoing, but he wasn’t sure that was a good thing. It took him a while to get his arousal to calm down, so he could ride home. Though he was tempted to park the cycle and walk down to Pat’s for a drink, or two, he knew whoever was on would have questions. He didn’t feel like explaining or regaling anyone. As selfish as it seemed, he wanted a few more hours longer with the memory of what had taken place between himself and Mona.

Instead, he rolled the motorcycle into its protective parking spot and made his way up to his unit. There, he removed his shirt, undid the buckle of his belt and grabbed a beer. As he settled on the sofa before the television, his cell phone vibrated. He reached for it and tilted his head when he saw Mona’s name.

Thanks for tonight.

You’re welcome. But isn’t it past your bedtime? He replied.

LOL. I’m an adult, Aedan. Besides, I can’t sleep.

He inhaled, took a long swallow from the bottle then set it by his feet.

Why is that?

You know why. And it’s all your fault. FYI, a cold shower did not help.

Regrets—Aedan hated them. But he couldn’t regret not going in. It was for her own good.

I’m sorry, Mona. I wish I could have helped but I need to be sure.

And you’re vertain this isn’t your way of letting me down easy?

He contemplated taking a picture of his cock and sending it to her as proof. But, he’d always thought men who sent women unsolicited pictures of their junk were scum.

I’m sure. No pressure, Mona.

Le sigh okay. It’s going to be a long week.

Aedan smiled. Well, the first step to making it shorter is closing your eyes.

Good night, Aedan

’Night.

Chapter Five

A professional development day fell in the middle of the week. It was a day the students stayed home, and the teachers attended school for seminars and the like. Usually, they were pointless and Mona hated them. Still, she wasted half the day sitting through one then filled the afternoon with painting. The evening was spent with Esme at a diner closer to Esme’s place. She wanted to stay out of Aedan’s view until Friday. After he’d left her, she had begun doubting herself. But the truth was she would have not regretted falling into bed with Aedan that night. Even if their relationship didn’t go any further. It would have been worth it.

“So, he gave you time to think.” Esme stole one of Mona’s fries. “I think that’s cute.”

“Ugh.” Mona cut her burger in half then pressed it down. That made it easier for her to bite into. “Yes. And I fully understand why he did it. But, I legit spent the night just tossing and turning, wanting him.”

“You got all that from a couple of kisses?”

Mona set her unbitten burger back on her plate and leaned in. “Let me explain something to you. The man kissed me well enough for me to write my own episode of The Red Shoes Diaries. Okay? He kissed me so good, my toes curled inside my shoes. He kissed me so well, I swear I climaxed. He kissed me so well—”
