Turned Out By A Boss(37)

With nothing to say Sarai angrily walked off as Daryl sat back laughing. He and Rico may have been best friends and similar in many ways but yet they were very different. Rico had more of a cockiness and arrogance to him where as Daryl was mister calm, cool and collected.

“You treat that girl wrong.”

“Man f*ck her,” Rico said dismissively.

The two went the rest of their meal in silence both occupied by their phones. Finishing their food and splitting the bill both men went their separate ways.

“Where you coming from?”

“Lunch with Daryl,” Rico answered removing his clothing.

“If you just had lunch with Daryl, why you need a shower?”

Turning around Rico looked at Deena as if she was crazy. Never has him walking in the house and heading straight to the shower been a problem. Ignoring her and refusing to give her a response he continued to the bathroom in all his naked glory.

“So you're not going to answer me?”

“If you not getting in then get out.”

Letting out a loud shriek, Deena stormed out of the bathroom slamming the door. Rico laughed as he got in the shower. He had no time for Deena’s tantrum. They were just fine before he left the house so he couldn't understand why she was so irate.

Stepping out of the shower he quickly dried off before hanging his towel up on the bathroom rack.

“Why you got this funky ass attitude?” he asked walking into his room where Deena laid on the bed reading something on her phone.

“I don't have no attitude.”

"Yes, you do. Come on tell me why you mad. Cause we were good when I left."

"I'm just tired of going through the bullshit."

Shaking his head Rico ignored her. He knew nobody had put a bug in her ear causing her attitude except Sherika's bitter ass. He loved his boy Daryl but he really needed to put his wife in her place. Whenever they went through something, it was like she expected Rico and Deena to automatically be on the outs as well.

Denim

Denim stood in her bathroom looking at herself in the mirror. Nervous was an understatement for how she felt at the moment. Dressed in a white tank dress and a pair of all white Jordan's she kept it simple. It's been well over two weeks since Rico had called with his little threat. No longer shook, she let Kuazie and Treasure convince her to still take the trip to New York.

Denim knew the possibility of her and Rico coming to common grounds during this trip was slim to none. But that was the chance she was willing to take. The last time the two spoke face to face, he threatened that if she told Deena that it would be the end of everything he provided her and Rhia with. After taking the initiative and handling her responsibilities and doing for herself, there was no reason she should have anything to worry about. However, like everyone knew when it came to Rico expect the unexpected because that man was very unpredictable.

“I need to lose weight,” she mumbled. With all the backlash she got during her pregnancy the last thing she wanted was to go back to the people who told her she wouldn't lose weight looking fat. She wasn't trying to give anyone the satisfaction of anything on this trip.

“Lose weight for what? Girl, your body, is fabulous.” Treasure stated as she walked in and Denim jumped.

“I'm too fat.”

“Too fat? Girl, only a bitch with no ass, no titties, and no hips would feel like you too fat. Besides you just had a baby a little over two months ago.” Treasure said dismissively.

Looking in the mirror Denim sighed. Yeah, Treasure’s words may have been helpful and nice but they still didn't kill every insecurity she had. Even with losing a lot of baby weight she still felt as though it wasn't enough. Being around females with shapes like Treasure, Juju, and Quay she wanted the hour glass shape that they so easily flaunted.

“Your hair looks nice.” Treasure complimented the Marley braids she had put in the day before. Thanking her Denim quickly grabbed her bags to take to the front for when she was ready to head out.

“Oh My Lawd, Denim you gotta fine man at the door.”

“Who the hell is that?”

“Quay. She wanted to see you before we left.”

Treasure explained as they walked out of the room in search of who was at the door. Denim smiled seeing Kuazie standing in her door way. He was dressed in a white tee grey sweats and an all-white pair of Jay’s. Simple yet sexy. His puffy hair was pulled back into a ponytail with a fitted hat that sat on top his head. With low eyes that just made him, even more, appealing, he smiled at her.

“You ready?” He asked pulling her into a hug.

Inhaling his scent, she put her head on his chest as she nodded. Treasure cooed at their cuteness. The two stood embracing each other as if they were the only ones in the room.

“Who's this cute ass nipsey hustle look alike?” Quay all but whispered.

Laughing Denim replied, “Quay this is Kuazie. Kuazie, Quay.”

“Let me talk to you really quick,” Kuazie said leading her to her bedroom in the back.

“No time for a quickie.” Treasure yelled jokingly.

Sitting on the edge of the bed Kuazie pulled Denim into his lap. He sat staring at her trying to find the right way to say how he felt without potentially hurting her feelings. He felt like he was about to bite off more than he could chew with taking this trip to New York with Denim. Yeah, he had love for her and yeah he was willing to try things out again but he didn't have time to be building with her only for her lame ass baby daddy to just swoop back in whenever he felt like it.
