Turned Out By A Boss(36)

Throwing her phone across the room, she laid Rhia down and just cried. She couldn't believe she was stupid enough to think a nigga like Rico ever loved her. He couldn't even be loyal to his wife so why she thought she was an exception she would never know.

Just yesterday she was thinking about taking the trip to New York but now she felt as though she had no choice, she wasn't ready for it. There's a big difference between wanting to do something and being forced to do something. Rico’s money was long so she knew there was no way she could ever go against him in a court room.

“Wassup with you?” she jumped forgetting all about Kuazie being there.

“I have to go to New York.”

"Why?"

“Rico.”

Kuazie was fuming at this point. “You going to New York to see a nigga who couldn't give two f*cks about you. Look I told you last night ain't no coming back. You are not going nowhere.”

“He's Rhia’s father. He has a right to see her,” she tried to reason.

“Since when? That's not what your dumb ass was crying yesterday if I remember correctly,” he raised his voice scaring her.

Kuazie couldn't understand how she went from saying he wasn't really there and claiming Rhia to him having a right to see her. It was mind boggling to him how dumb Denim had gotten over the years. The Denim he knew would have never allowed a f*ck nigga like Rico to play her out the way he is now.

"I have no choice." she cried.

“You always have a choice. Don't give me that bullshit.”

“He said he would take my baby. I can't allow him to take her away from me.”

"How he taking her Denim?” Kuazie asked not convinced.

“He's threatening to take me to court. Kuazie I can't compete with him. Rico's money is long and he can afford a good attorney where as I have nothing to offer I don’t even have a job.” She cried as he comforted her.

“Denim chill. Didn't you just say the f*ck nigga didn't sign the birth certificate? He has no rights baby girl.”

Denim thought about it then sat up and hugged Kuazie. Thanking him for saying she didn't have to go to New York now. Kuazie had different plans though in a week tops Denim and Rhia would be on a plane flying to New York. Only thing was they wouldn't be alone.

Rico

Rico laid back on his bed with his hands behind his head feeling accomplished. He knew with his threats Denim would be on the first thing back to New York. He didn't exactly know where she was hiding but he knew his words would bring her out of hiding.

Would he ever take her to court or take Rhia from her? Hell no. But it was exactly what he needed to instill fear in her. It seemed as if once she left, she felt that she was the shit. He would be sure to bring her back down.

In all honesty, he missed Denim. She was different from Deena, Jasmine, and Sarai. Denim was much younger than not only the three of them but him as well. With her being so young she was kind of na?ve and easily influenced and that was what attracted him to her. He loved the innocence she possessed and the fact that she was always down to do what made him happy.

"Baby, what are you doing today?” Deena asked as she came in the room.

“Besides going to play a couple games of ball with Daryl, nothing. Why? What you need?”

“Just asking,” she said looking at him suspiciously. “If you decide on something else call me.”

Rico nodded his head looking at her weirdly. For some reason, it felt as if Deena was changing. Not in a bad way but changing none the less. She now cooked without hesitation. She barely nagged him and for some reason, she was down to try new things in the bed room. It was weird for Rico not that he was complaining.

“Alright. Ima get outta here soon.” he said raising up and putting on his sneakers.

“Okay. Love you,” she said kissing his lips as he said it back.

“You ready to play this game?” Rico asked as he pulled up to the gym.

"Nah change of plans. Let's go out to eat. I'm hungry and Sherika tripping again.” Rico shook his head laughing as he followed Daryl to Applebee's in gateway center.

Walking into Applebee's the lunch crowd was in full swing. It wasn't too crowded but it was definitely a lot of people. After a fifteen-minute wait for a table, the two of them were seated in a booth in the back.

“So what's been going on with your crazy wife?” Rico asked looking over his menu.

Daryl sighed. “I don't know. It's like she just been changing up on me lately. A nigga can't get a meal, a hug, kiss or nothing.”

“Damn, what you do?”

"Nothing."

Ordering their food, the two of them sat talking about Daryl's home life. According to him, Sherika was throwing shade his way crazy. He didn't know what he'd done but he knew if he didn't fix it soon his wife was leaving him.

“Hey, Rico.”

Looking up from his plate he saw Sarai standing over him with her arms folded and a slight mug on her face.

“Hey.”

“Why have you been ignoring me? So what you playing me to the left now for your wife. I mean you don't even come to the club like you usually do.” she pressed as she slid into the booth beside him.

With a heated facial expression, he turned so that they were face to face. “Let's get something straight. Don't ever in your f*cking life step to me on no bullshit. I f*ck with you when I wanna f*ck with you. Not when you want me to and the next time you mention my wife will be your last.” He arrogantly spoke.
