The Drake Unwound Complete Collection (The Drake Series Book 9)(16)

I leaned closer and kissed her. "Whatever you say."

She laid her head against my shoulder again, then she started to move on me, but I stopped her.

"My turn," I said and lifted her up. I turned us over, remaining inside of her.

She smiled. "We're really a very vanilla couple," she said while I positioned myself above her.

"We are.” I agreed, a laugh escaping me. “We'd be booed out of the dungeon.” I leaned down and kissed her shoulder softly. “Now, be quiet Ms. Bennet. You talk far too much, like your namesake." I silenced her with a kiss and that was the end of our playful banter.

I pulled her to the edge of the bed so that her feet rested on the side. I grabbed hold of her hips and began to thrust, watching as my cock slid inside of her and enjoying the sight of it. I reached up to squeeze a breast, then leaned down to suck a nipple, my hands running over her body, hungry to touch her now that I was the active one. I needed to feel her skin beneath my hands, to squeeze her delicious breasts, to suck her nipples, to hear her little gasp of pleasure when I did.

I took her feet in my hands and held them, spreading her thighs wide, all the time watching as I f*cked her, my thrusts increasing in tempo until finally, my own orgasm started, the pleasure blinding in intensity as I ejaculated deep inside of her.

"Oh, f*ck, oh, f*ck…"

I thrust slow and deep, my eyes closed despite my own best attempts to keep them open and on hers.

When I was finished, I collapsed onto her and she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me closer.

I dressed quickly after we finished washing up and left the apartment with a promise to return later after several meetings I had at the hospital, wrapping up my work before we left.

Once I arrived in my office, I called Lara on my cell.

“Hey, Drake,” she said, sounding a bit distracted. “What’s up?”

“Complications,” I said. “Kate’s friend found Sunita and brought it up to her. I had to spend quite some time calming her fears that I’m a closet sadist.”

She sighed. “I told her you weren’t, multiple times, Drake.”

“Tell her again, okay? I told her a bit about our time together during training but it might be a good idea to tell her in your own words.”

“Okay, if you think so.” There was a pause. “You really, really like this girl, don’t you?”

“I really, really do.”

“Okay then,” she said. “But seriously, Drake. I’m going to have to put out a sexual therapy and couples therapy shingle and start charging. You two…”

I laughed at that. “You should. I’d owe you a fortune.”

I hung up and smiled, glad a million times over that I met her. I sat staring at the phone, thinking about Sunita and the harm she could still do to me if she really wanted to. What Dawn could do to me.

I pulled on my lab coat, hung a stethoscope around my neck and made my way to the neurosurgery ward to check on my patients.

CHAPTER SIX

During the rest of the week, both Kate and I spent our time finishing off our own individual plans before leaving for Kenya. I had to wrap up my cases, handing off new patients to my colleagues who were taking over for me.

I practiced with Mersey on Wednesday as usual, and spent some time afterwards with Ken and the guys, drinking and talking about the time I’d be away.

“Bring this girl to Sunday dinner,” Ken said and put his arm around me in a brotherly manner after we were done. “I know Mom is dying to meet the one girl who captured Drake’s heart. Plus, I’m curious as hell, too.”

I smiled. “Maybe someday. We’re still pretty new, and I don’t want to overwhelm her with family so soon.”

“What?” Ken said and punched my shoulder playfully. I held up my fists and we sparred for a moment. He always thought of me like his little brother, in size and in age even though we were the same age. “You’ve spent time with her family, right?”

“That’s different.”

“No, it isn’t. Bring her over before you go.”

“I’ll think about it,” I said, conceding nothing. “If we’re still together when we come back, for sure.”

Ken sighed and I knew he was disappointed. “You gotta let people into your life, Drake. You can’t keep everything perfectly segregated forever.”

“I know,” I said and nodded as I pulled my coat on. “I’m learning. I’m trying.”

“Good. Will we see you at least for Sunday dinner?”

“Sure,” I said. “I’d like to say a proper goodbye to your mom.”

Ken waved as I left the pub and walked to my car, which was parked a half-block away. He was right. I did have to let people into my life. I was letting Kate into my life, bit by bit, but it was still difficult.

I was learning.

The next day after spending the afternoon at the Corporation, I arrived at Ethan’s apartment to pick Kate up, waking her up from a nap. I had taken my coat off and was unbuttoning my jacket as I stood over her.

"Sorry to wake you. I tried to be quiet."

She sighed and stretched, watching me as I removed my jacket.
