Reckless Souls (Saints Academy, #1)(45)

can remember, I was excited to hang out with friends.

That should be embarrassing at my age, but fuck it, it makes me happy. I’d rather have found

friends later than never at all.

I caved earlier in the week, spilling the truth over what happened on Monday without missing a

single detail, to Harmonia while we ate lunch. Her level of mad was way higher than I expected, and

I had to make her promise to play it cool. Her pupils seemed to darken, the usual light pink hues

deepening to a magenta shade. She was a little frightening to look at.

I remember the exact words I said to her, and I stand by them fully.

I’ll get my revenge when they least expect it. I don’t want to fuck it all up over one hot headed

moment.

As we get to the bottom of the stairs, my brows crease as I look from the portal to Harmonia.

“How exactly do we get the portal to allow Cassandra and Thalia to come to Agion?” I ask. Even

though I may have been forced to go through the process, I have no idea how they made it happen. I

just went along for the unfortunate ride.

“It's simple really. We just have to be touching them, while stepping through the portal first,”

Harmonia explains, just before we step through the black fog to find the twins chatting on the other

side.

That makes sense; I remember the hand on my arm, but how they managed to be slipping through

the portal just before I was, is completely crazy to me. I hadn’t realized someone was walking that

close to me.

“Hey,” Cassandra calls out excitedly, while Thalia offers a short wave and a smile, remaining as

quiet as ever. I think that’s why I’m more naturally drawn to her in comparison to Cassandra.

Cassandra is in a white summer dress, while Thalia is rocking denim shorts and a band tee,

clearly demonstrating the difference between the sisters.

“Ready to go?” Harmonia asks, and the girls smile as they move to stand in front of the portal.

I watch what Harmonia does, linking Thalia’s arm with mine as I step through the billowing

smoke. Just as she said, we appear in Agion when I place my foot back down on the floor.

Smiling wide, pleased that it worked, we move just behind Cassandra and Harmonia as they step

through. I start to head for the stairs, when one of the dorm doors opens on the left, making my steps

falter as Khaos, Xander, Adonis, and Zen step out.

My breath catches in my throat, the Elites demanding all of my attention against my will as I look

them over from head to toe.

They’re all wearing jeans, Xander in denim blue, Zen in light blue, while Adonis and Khaos wear

black. Their t-shirts however, are vastly different.

Zen wears a linen shirt with long sleeves that fits his body perfectly. The top few buttons open

revealing golden tanned skin beneath.

Khaos dons a white tee with a thick leather jacket over it, giving him the bad boy vibe I know he

can certainly live up to. The mere memory of that night in the woods sends a shiver down my spine as

my throat practically begs for his attention again.

Xander has a muscle-fit band tee on, one I’m familiar with from back home, and I can’t deny that I

agree with his taste of music. Along with the choice of clothing since it accentuates his muscular

arms.

Adonis on the other hand, has a fitted black, silk shirt on, the top button undone and the sleeves

stopping at his biceps. With the hem only slightly tucked into his waistband, he looks hot as hell.

Annoyingly. As always.

“Ladies,” Adonis says with his usual purr, pulling me from my thoughts as I swallow past the

lump in my throat.

“Adonis,” Harmonia replies, a bored undertone, telling me she’s nowhere near as affected by

them as I am. That fact filling me with more relief than I care to admit to, but also confusing me at the

same time because I’m not sure why I’m so enamored with them.

Out of the corner of my eye, I look at the twins too, who seem a little nervous standing before the

guys, but not all doe-eyed and swoon-worthy, which only makes me like them even more. Then I

remember Khaos saying they were his cousins.

“What’s going on here?” The man himself asks, ruffling his jet black hair, but still letting it fall

drastically over his green eyes. It should be a sin to look as good as these four do.

“We’re having a girls’ night, Khaos, don’t be a dick,” Thalia says with a grunt, making my eyes

widen in surprise, and I have to bite back the chuckle desperate to pass from my lips. I was not

expecting words like that to fall from the mouth of this typically quiet girl.

Khaos glares at her and Cassandra, who doesn’t even attempt to hold her laugh in as Xander steps

forward, eyes on me. “Will there be pillow fights? Please tell me there will be pillow fights,” he

asks, a cheeky grin on his face that catches me by surprise. He’s usually gruff, expressionless and far

too growly, but right now he seems carefree, happy even. His comment has thrown me for a loop

because it doesn’t seem like something he would say.

“You wish,” Harmonia retorts, flicking her hair over her shoulder as she links her arm through
