Forgiving Nancy (Last Hangman MC, #5)(45)

“He has a lot more death on his conscience than you can imagine. Bennett is the most selfless man I’ve ever known, he’d give his life for any of his friends or family without a moment’s hesitation. No matter what you say to him to try and change his mind, he’ll ignore and would probably get pissed off with you for trying to reason with him, trust me, we’ve all tried. You just gotta let him do his thing and hope he won’t get hurt again. That’s all the advice I can give you I’m afraid,” Aleck says, giving me a knowing nod. “As for who’s behind it all, I’m not sure you’ll be able to keep it from him much longer.”

“He’s going to hate me when he finds out.” I sigh.

“He won’t hate you, he’ll be really pissed because we all know and he’s the only one who doesn’t.” Aleck warns as he brings us a mug of coffee and cake each.

“Know what?” Ayden asks, mirroring the confused expressions of Viv, Line and Nicole.

“Nothing I can talk about, sadly.” I frown and take a bite of cake.

“It’ll all be okay. Don’t worry.” Aleck squeezes my shoulder and I hope he’s right. If he’s not, I might just lose the one person who’s ever loved me.

CHAPTER 21

Bennett

Red is all I can see as I drag the f*cker who tried to take Nancy right from under our noses. I’m ready to just blow this f*cker’s brains out, but I need some answers first and I’m going to be real persuasive. I drag his unconscious body to the basement of the compound and sit him on a chair before tying him to it. Wouldn’t want him to be able to escape or try to fight back now would we?

I ready myself and get into the zone before slapping the bastard a couple of times to wake him up. I just want to bash his face in, but I can’t, not yet. He slowly opens his eyes and starts to come around.

“Finally, you’re awake.” I smirk and start circling him.

“Where am I?” he asks. I smile when I hear his voice shake. Good.

“In hell.” I come to a stop in front of him and place a booted foot between his legs on the chair. I cross my arms on my knees and lean forward. “Didn’t think you’d end up here, did you?”

“N-no. Wh-what do you want from me?” he stutters.

“Why did you try to grab Nancy?”

“I was ordered to. Oh shit, he’s going to be so pissed,” he says as he looks around for what I’m sure is an escape route.

“Who ordered you?” I stand up and tower over the piece of shit in front of me.

“I-I can’t tell you. I took an oath, they’ll kill me.” He whines.

“And what exactly do you think I’m going to do? Because I can’t see you making it out of this room alive,” I tell him in a calm voice that has him cowering in the chair. I swear under my breath and move out of this idiot’s line of sight. I stand behind him, not saying a word, but making sure I make some noise with the torture devices laid in front of me. I turn around and smirk seeing him move on his chair, no doubt trying to undo his binds and make a run for it, but he’s out of luck. I watch him wriggle like a worm for a few minutes before I suddenly lunge forward. I grab his hair and yank his head back as wrap my other hand around his neck and squeeze. He quickly starts to wheeze as he tries to catch a breath. “Let me make this clear for you, you son of a bitch. We can do this one of two ways: either you tell me and I’ll make this quick and painless for you or you can keep quiet and I’ll make it an extremely painful death. Personally I’d prefer the latter but the choice is yours.”

I see him begin to weigh up his options and I can see just how nervous he is, but soon his nervous grimace morphs into an evil grin. “I’d rather die slowly and painfully. That way I’d get the pleasure of seeing you go crazy with the knowledge that everybody is hiding it from you.”

“As you wish,” I state bluntly, trying to keep my cool. I rip open his shirt and walk over to a table we keep our ‘tool’s on in the corner and grab a knife. I walk back to him spinning the blade in my hand. “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” he spits out through gritted teeth, preparing himself for the pain. I stand in front of him and drag the blade from his left shoulder down to his right hip, deep enough to cause pain but not deep enough to make him bleed too much.

“What do the Infernos want with us?” I look into his eyes, loving the fact that he’s completely at my mercy.

“It’s got nothing to do with the Last Hangman.” He leers. I don’t hesitate as I drag the knife from his right shoulder to his left hip, marking his torso with a large cross.

“What do they want with Nancy?” I yell at him.

“Nothing with Nancy in particular. You ask the wrong questions, Bennett.” He laughs creepily at me and I lose my patience. I slice his left cheek until I see teeth, the process makes him scream and rips the torn flesh just a bit more. Hearing his screams makes up for the lack of real answers I’m getting. “They are after you, you stupid motherf*cker. It’s always been about you, but you’re too self-absorbed in your own little cozy world to notice anything!” He chuckles manically through the pain as I slice his right cheek.

I sit down on a chair in front of the kidnapping f*cker and watch him slowly lose consciousness. I don’t know how long I’ve spent cutting him open, but the f*cker hasn’t said a word. In a way, I get why he’s not speaking, prospects have to show their loyalty to an MC, but he will never make it into the MC, they just sent him to his death.
