Love, Lies, and Deception(31)
“Not by choice,” I groaned.
Feeling disappointed, I tried my best to be understanding, but I wanted to know who drugged me and why. Before leaving, I gave Detective Michaels a hug good-bye and said, “Thank you for all your help. Keep me informed if anyone finds out anything.”
“I will, Ms. Chase. Stay safe out there. I don’t like the fact that this is twice now in two years that you’ve been targeted. It seems a little odd to me.” Yes, it did seem odd, I thought. I guess I just have shitty luck.
When the meeting was over, we all went out to lunch at Macado’s and then back to the apartment minus Kristian. He wasn’t happy with me at the moment, and I hoped that he would come around soon. I didn’t want anything coming between us.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” my sister asked.
“Yes, I’ll be fine.” I smiled to reassure her.
She hugged me hard and kissed my cheek. “Please come home sometime. I told Alec to drag you down and for him to come along. The girls would love to see you.”
I nodded. “I know, and I will … soon.”
Kimberly hugged Emily and Alec, and said her good-byes before getting into her van and driving off. My throat closed up at watching her go, but I held back the tears. I missed my family, especially my parents.
Alec put his arm around my shoulders and placed a kiss on my temple. “Why don’t we take it easy tonight and watch a movie? Does that sound good?”
Wrapping my arms around his waist, I laid my head on his chest. “Sounds great,” I mumbled, breathing him in. “Except, I get to pick out the movie.” Groaning, Alec let me go and I laughed. “Don’t worry, it’ll be one you like, I promise,” I assured him.
“I highly doubt that. Women have shitty taste in movies.”
Crossing my arms over my chest, I glared at him. “You wanna bet.”
“Well, then tell me what you had in mind.”
“Let’s see …” I began, biting my lip. “It happens to be one of my favorite movies, and since you like surfing I thought it was quite fitting.”
His eyes widened and he grinned. “If you say Point Break then I think I’m in love with you. It’s one of the best movies of all time.”
“See.” I smiled. “We have something in common, and besides, Patrick Swayze is so freaking hot in this movie.”
Rolling his eyes, Alec kissed me on the lips and whispered in my ear, his breath on my neck making me shiver. “I’m sure we have plenty of things in common, Marissa. You just need to let me show you.”
I whispered back, “I look forward to it.”
Two weeks had come and gone, and there were no leads from the police on who the girls were that had slipped me the roofie. I was starting to think they’d never be found.
“You look deep in thought this morning. What’s on your mind, baby?” Alec whispered sleepily.
Exhausted, I snuggled deeper into the covers and closer to him, feeling the warmth of his body. We had a long night of studying, and I was wiped out. Since exams were coming up, I told him in order for him to spend time with me he had to help me study. I was rewarded when I answered all the questions right. My reward was in the form of his naked body all over mine.
“I guess everything’s on my mind like exams, the summer … you.”
For the past two weeks I’d spent every night with him, and each day he was opening up to me more and more. Even though he still kept his dark secrets hidden, he was slowly getting comfortable with confiding in me on other levels. We talked about our fears, what we liked and disliked, and about where we were from. I laughed when he told me his favorite snack food was gummie bears. It wasn’t what I was expecting from him at all.
Even staring at him with that gorgeous smile on his face, naked and completely aroused in his bed, I couldn’t believe I used to think he was nothing more than a cocky bastard. There was so much more to him than I thought.
Alec bit his lip and slowly ran his finger down my bare arm, sliding the covers off of me in the process. “Ah, I like that you think about me,” he teased. “You’re always on my mind.” He’d proven that fact countless times and made sure to show me again by digging his rock hard cock into my stomach.
I giggled at his tenacity. “I have to be in class in thirty minutes, Alec. You can wait until tonight, can’t you?”
“No,” he stated forcefully, shaking his head. “It’s not easy waiting when you’re lying in my bed naked right in front of me. Why don’t you skip classes today? You’re ready for your exams, and you said the other day that all your professors are doing is reviewing. They don’t even take attendance.”
He had me on that one.
“You’re a bad influence on me, you know that,” I chided.
Alec smiled, but it quickly disappeared and was replaced with worry. “Please, Marissa. There’s a lot I want to tell you before things go further, things you know I haven’t wanted to tell you. I didn’t expect things to get this far between us.”
“So you thought you could keep your secrets, is that it?” Honestly, I didn’t expect things to get that far between us either. I guess I couldn’t blame him.
Alec looked away and sighed. “Yes, but things changed. I need you to know now, so please say you’ll stay and let me explain.”
