Posing for the Omega (For the Alpha #2)(30)

“Don’t, this is between alphas.” Alloy looked on as Svara began to growl loud and pissed.

Was everyone insane! I watched as Zora and Svara rolled in the dirt their bodies shifting mid roll into their furred four forms. Teeth snapped and loud angry snarled echoed around us as the two tangled in a dangerous battle of wills. I’d never had to watch my alpha fight, not really his power was earned in this pack — accepted. I didn’t want to watch this, I didn’t want to see him get hurt. My feet dug into the dirt as his words ran through my head again a command that was settling deep into my bones. Don’t intervene. I couldn’t intervene. A sharp yelp and the two sprang apart Svara limping on three legs her hind leg held up as she growled at my alpha, her fangs were dripping with blood the same color as her rust colored fur. Blood dripped down into the dry dirt from Zora’s coat an injury to his shoulder leaking down his front leg to coat the earth. I didn’t see anything else except that blood. The noises of the pack urging their alpha to win drowned out as I watched my mate take the first steps to attack for the second time. They rushed each other only Zora ducked right at the last moment and jumped onto the females back jaw wide as he grabbed the scruff of her neck with massive blood slick fangs. Svara howled as he dug his hind claws into her side and bit down harder on her neck shaking his head violently. She fought against him desperately trying to bite at him from behind, but was unable to reach from where he had her. Zora shook her again ferocious noises bursting from him as he held her down. Finally she settled. It was probably only a few minutes, but the struggle had felt longer as I watched. Svara was still beneath my alpha the rise and fall of her belly the only obvious sign she was alive. Zora released her and stood over her baring his massive fangs in the most threatening expression he could possibly make. I’d only ever seen love and curiosity in his black eyes when he looked at me, but as he stared down at the she wolf beneath him, both of them covered in grim and blood he look bloodthirsty and so much the alpha that he was.

“I am the alpha of this pack. Ira is mine. Submit.” The hackles on his back stood up his tail a rigid mast behind him as he stood over Svara. Yup, she was so dead. No way that female would keep her mouth shut. He was going to rip her to shreds and then I wouldn’t learn anything about the luperci or anything else about the shit I didn’t know or understand and then we were all going to die miserable deaths be some crazy ass luperci alphas on a killing—

“I submit. I know when I’ve had my ass kicked.” Svara didn’t move from under Zora her eyes still shut as she breathed heavily.

“Bare yourself.” Zora’s command was harsh and loud.

“Bastard.” Svara spat and rolled from her side onto her back baring her soft underbelly and her throat for my alpha to do with as he pleased. It was the most vulnerable any wolf could be and I couldn’t believe he’d asked a complete stranger with no trust in him to do something so life threatening. I couldn’t believe she hadn’t shifted to her luperci form to defend herself...unless there was more to this than I understood?

Zora lunged his teeth grasping the female by her throat. I cringed my breath held tight in my lungs unable to escape from my body. Would he really kill her? He couldn’t! Not knowing how important she was to us right now. Even after what she’d done I didn’t want her dead— don’t get me wrong I was in no way a fan of her and I’d wanted her blood for what she’d done but I needed her to tell us the truth about the luperci. I needed to know what I was for once in my life, I really wanted to know what I was. Zora shook her slightly her wolf body wiggling under the forceful jerking until they both stilled and my alpha released her just as quickly as he’d grabbed her. There was only clean unbloodied fur on Svara’s neck as she rolled back onto her four paws and shook out the dirt and blood from other parts of her body. “There is only a tentative truce between us female. I do not trust you or the luperci.” Zora looked around at the other pack members who watched him with curious and wary glances. His black gaze passed over everyone of his pack mates until he stopped on me, his eyes burning into my like they had since the day I’d almost bulldozed into him. Alpha looked back to Svara who stood facing him on strong long legs, their height almost even in their four form. “The only reason you are alive is because Ira wants you to be. There are things you know that we need to be informed of, but make no doubt I will tear you limb from limb and roll in your blood if you touch my mate again.”

My hackles rose as a shiver ran through my body all the way to my toes. I didn’t doubt his threat, not for one moment. In all the time I’d known my alpha he’d never sounded so...so… void. He sounded empty of anything, like that was all he could think of doing in that very moment but couldn’t fulfill his darkest desires. I didn’t like that idea, especially now knowing that he was like those wolves in the woods… knowing that he was luperci.

“What makes you think you can beat me in my luperci form?” Svara ears flattened on her skull her yellow eyes narrowed as sparks of fire swirled in their depths.

“Why didn’t you shift if you thought you could win?”

Svara looked away not meeting my alpha’s steely gaze. Obviously, by her response she hadn’t thought she could win.

They untied Naga… and wasn’t that a shame. I’d really been enjoying her tied to a poll. It was almost worth the whole messy fight between Svara and my mate and her scaring the bloodthirsty monster out of me. I did say almost so don’t get your tail in a twist. I had learned that apparently I had a raging maternal monster inside me that wanted to bathe in the blood of anyone who threatened my pups...so there was that.
