Posing for the Omega (For the Alpha #2)(23)

The she wolf hesitated looking between her alpha and me as if she wanted to keep pressing me for answers but knew she had to go. “This isn’t over Ira. You’re going to tell me what you know.” Naga snarled at Koda one more time before loping off in the direction of Zora and his beta’s.

“Pork cock she’s a fucking twat!” Koda said once she’d gotten far enough away.

I sighed watching Naga wall away. “She really cares about the pack. She just doesn’t show it well.” That was an understatement on my part - wouldn’t you agree? I mean she really didn’t show it well.

Koda snorted. “I can’t stand her long enough not to imagine her dead. Whatever,” He looked up at me with his same bright green eyes I was familiar with, except this time they were filled with sorrow. “I’m sorry about Dey, Ira. I know she means a lot to you.”

“We will find her.” I said it quickly, because I wanted to erase the negative aspect of where he was going with his words. We would find her, she would be ok. I had to believe that or I’d start to really lose myself to the constant anxiety riding inside of me.

Koda sighed. “Can you tell me more about what’s going on? Where did the luperci female come from? What happened between you and Alpha yesterday in the woods? Alloy isn’t saying anything and it’s beginning to scare the pack.”

“The female…” I said slowly, looking towards where Koda had said she was being detained. A luperci who knew what she was, what we were. My blood started to thrum in my veins as my heart raced. “Koda come with me.” I said quietly as I dropped hurriedly to four legs and meandered away from the crowd and towards where the she wolf was being kept.

“What? Wait, Ira what about my questions?” Koda asked as he followed quickly behind me.

I looked over my shoulder to make sure my alpha wasn’t watching me before I jogged off towards the other side of the dens. “I’ll answer them later. Right now I need to talk to the she wolf.”

“Talk to her?” Koda snorted as he loped to catch up with me. “You don’t think that’s been attempted? She just bitches half the time and won’t talk the other half.”

“I’ll have to convince her. It’s important Koda. She could be what saves this pack.” Well what she knows could be what saves this pack.

“Didn’t that same wolf attack you in the woods? Are you insane? Why would she want to help any of us?” Koda said as we weaved around the nearest dens.

“I don’t think she meant to attack me. I think she was attacking Zora. It’s complicated.” I had my own take on what had happened with the female luperci. What had she said that day — something about stolen omegas, and the others. She knew things that we didn’t know and that had to mean something, it just had to. I rounded the corner to the last den where I finally caught sight of the red luperci tied to a pole staked into the ground. A grey wolf named Byrin watched her from not far away, his brown eyes accessing even as he lay relaxing. I slowed and approached the male wolf with a toothy grin that I hoped didn’t express how nervous I was. I didn’t want another wolf in the pack to be around when I spoke to the she wolf, but I had to get Byrin away long enough to actually talk to her. “Byrin, you’re looking extra foreboding today!” I said jovially. The old sentry wolf would love a good compliment about his bland personality.

Byrin looked at me with the same flat monotone eyes (was that even a thing? Monotone eyes? Byrin made it possible if it wasn’t, but I digress.) “Alpha mate. You are very pregnant it is not safe to be near the outsider.” He advised in his equally bland voice. Mother, the wolf was like a stale carcass.

“We came to t—”

I jammed my leg into Koda’s gut cutting him off abruptly. He let out a grunt/cough that sounded pretty painful, and I had to admit I might have overdone it. A snort of laughter emitted from the she wolf not far away, her yellow eyes sharp as she watched the three of us from her uncomfortable looking perch. “We came to tell you that the alpha wants all the wolves in the pack to come and listen to what he has to say.” I flashed another toothy grin.

Byrin gaze was flat and unchanging as he studied me. Moose fart could the wolf make an expression. If he didn’t move I’d think he was actually dead. No really it was starting to creep me out. “Alpha mate. I will watch the outsider from a distance so you may speak with her in private, but I advise not getting close.” He said as he got onto four paws and stalked away to a spot definitely far enough he wouldn’t hear from.

“Well that was easy.”

“You’re the alpha mate. You can do practically anything you want, you do realize that right?” Koda shook his head.

“Uh well no… I mean I’m not the alpha— whatever it doesn’t matter.” I was here to talk to the she wolf. She would be the one to help me save Dey I just knew it deep in my pregnant belly. I approached the red luperci close enough that we could talk but not close enough she could possibly touch me. “Hello, my name is—”

“Ira. Yeah I know. You’re fucking pack won’t shut the fuck up about your pregnant ass. Blah Blah Blah they go on and on and on until my head wants to fucking explode. Oh, and your dumb as shit alpha couldn’t get anymore tamed then what you’ve turned him into. How I thought he had taken you captive was beyond me.” The she wolf spewed in one long winded rant.
