Only Mine (Honey Mountain #5)(53)

“Did you ever have to kill anyone?” she asked, her fingers tracing the SEAL trident tattoo on my upper arm.

“Yes.”

“Who’d you kill?”

“Bad guys.”

She laughed. “Were you ever scared that you were going to die?”

“A couple of times. But I came out the other end still breathing, so there you go.”

“Are these bullet wounds?” she asked, as her fingers moved down my arm.

“They are.”

She tugged me forward and crawled over me to look at the back of my arm. “They didn’t come out the other side.”

“Nope. They had to be taken out.”

“Hmmm… that couldn’t have been pleasant.”

“I was out of it. I barely remember,” I said, wrapping an arm around her and wanting to hold her close. This was not the norm. Not now. Not ever. I wasn’t a cuddler. I wasn’t an affectionate person. I wasn’t a talker. But something about this woman made it impossible not to touch her. Not to want to keep her close.

“Did you sleep with that hostess in New York?” she asked, suddenly out of the blue.

“No. Did you sleep with the bartender?”

“No. Although your two vaginas plan only made him want me more. But I told you that I haven’t had sex since I met you. You’ve irritated me too much to be in the mood.” She laughed against my chest, and I stroked her hair. “Have you? You mentioned those bootie calls you have on speed dial.”

“I have not had sex since that first time I saw you at the gas station. You also irritated the shit out of me.”

“Well, this is certainly an interesting turn of events, isn’t it?” she asked.

“If that’s what you want to call it.”

“What would you call it?” she asked, pushing up to look at me.

Fucking amazing.

I wouldn’t say that aloud because I didn’t know what the fuck would happen between us. I hadn’t been in a relationship for a decade.

“I’d call it unexpected.”

That was safe.

I worked with this woman.

We shouldn’t go there.

But I didn’t know if I could stop it now.

The train had already left the station.

And I didn’t know how to turn on the brakes.

Or maybe I just didn’t want to.

The sun streaming in through the windows had my eyes fluttering open. Or was it the smell of bacon?

“Hello?” I shouted, wrapping a sheet around my naked body.

Thoughts of Wolf kissing me—everywhere—flooded me all at once.

So many orgasms.

I glanced at the clock to see we’d barely slept for two hours. We’d had sex again after the first time, but we’d talked for hours in between. I’d never spent so much time talking to a man. But oddly, he’d yet to bore me.

The day was young. I’d give him another hour, and I’m sure I’d be less interested in what he had to say.

“Is there a reason you’re shouting?” Wolf stood in the doorway, wearing nothing but a pair of fitted boxer briefs, as he sipped his coffee and managed to look sexy as hell. My eyes scanned every single muscle on his abdomen and…

Hello, defined eight-pack.

Wolf put every underwear model I’d ever seen to shame.

I tucked my sexed-up hair behind my ears and smiled. “Yes. I assumed you left, but then I smelled bacon.”

“I take it you’re a fan?” He smirked.

“Of course, I’m a fan of crispy pork. I mean, I’m human, right? But I don’t have any bacon here. Where’d you get it?”

His tongue peeked out to wet his lips, and my body heated as I watched. The only thing better than well-cooked bacon was Wolf Wayburn’s tongue.

All of his SEAL training really paid off when it came to sex. The man was so driven and determined—he never tired. And his mission appeared to be pleasing me, and I was here for it.

I’d most definitely met my match in the bedroom, and that was a first.

“I live next door, remember?” A small, sexy smile spread across his handsome face.

“Okay, let me throw on some clothes, and we can eat all the bacon together.” I pushed to my feet.

“Personally, I prefer you naked.”

I raised a brow. “Save those thoughts for another time. I need to eat and then get dressed. You also did not stay true to your word because I didn’t get packed last night.”

I grabbed his dress shirt and slipped it on, laughing at the fact that there was only one button left on the shirt, but the smell of bacon had me in a hurry to get out there. When I started to walk past him in the doorway, he stopped me. His hands found the side of my neck, and he tilted my head back so I could look at him. “You’re even fucking beautiful in the morning. How is that possible?”

I shrugged. “It’s a gift.”

He barked out a laugh, and I did the same because my one-liners were always spot on.

“Come on, let’s eat.”

I was very surprised to see the table set with napkins, silverware, and orange juice. He made his way to the kitchen before setting two plates down, one in front of me and one for himself. There were scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast on each dish.
