Dear Heart, You Screwed Me(114)

“I need pain relief, please, anything.” I cried out, “I can’t take it.” I thrashed on the bed, the pain unbearable. No matter how I moved, how I sat, I was uncomfortable.

Kyra examined me, her brows shooting up. “Okay, Reese. You’re already at nine centimetres, you ready to meet your daughter?” she smiled.

“No, I’m not.” I shook my head, trying to squeeze my legs together.

Kyra pushed my legs open, giving me a scowl as she shook her head from side to side.

“Baby… baby…” Killian distracted me, he turned my face towards him and held it there. “You’ve got this,” he moved closer to me, pressing his forehead against mine. “Now you’re going to listen to Kyra, and you’re going to deliver our beautiful daughter into this world.” He moved away, pressing his lips to mine as I lingered but our moment was soon over when a contraction ripped through me.

“Okay Reese, push.”

I pushed my chin to my chest and bared down like I was told to in my birthing classes.

“Excellent, okay, on your next contraction… push a little harder for me okay. She is already crowning.”

“She is eager to meet you,” Killian whispered as he watched.

“Shit!” I cried as my stomach tightened.

“That’s it Reese, push my darling, push.” Kyra said as the midwife stood next to her with a towel. I felt the burn as I continued pushing through the contraction that was ripping through me.

“Brilliant Reese, her head is out, take a breather then on the next contraction give me one last push.”

It felt uncomfortable, but it didn’t take long for the last contraction to appear and as soon as I felt it, I pushed with everything I had when suddenly, I heard her piercing cry.

“Happy Birthday, darling,” Kyra said, standing and handing my delicate daughter to me. Kyra pulled down my top, placing her on my bare chest then covered her with a light blanket.

I kissed the top of her head, happy tears streamed down my face. Killian hovered over me, kissing my head, kissing my nose then finally, his lips on mine. My heart skipped a beat.

It was so full.

I had everything I had ever dreamed of.

A man who loved every ounce of me and a beautiful daughter whom I shared her with him.

“Do we have a name?” Kyra asked as she held a pen over a small ankle tag.

I looked at Killian, he nodded before we both turned to the Doctor.

“Celeste Iris Hayes,” I smiled, my eyes watering again as I looked down at her.

She was my little miracle, rainbow baby. That’s what her name meant. Miracle and Rainbow.

She was the rainbow after the turbulent storm.

She was our happily ever after.
