Finding Kyle(71)

His brow furrows because there’s no sandwich or chips in there—only a box.

He pulls it out. When he realizes what it is, his lips start to tip upward at the corners. He opens the flaps on the end—which had obviously already been opened by me and refolded back—and pulls out the little plastic stick.

Turning it over gently with his fingers, as if he was holding the most precious thing in the world, he locks his eyes right onto the positive sign in the digital window.

His head slowly rises, and his gaze is filled with wonder. “We’re pregnant.”

I nod quickly, unable to contain it anymore. Bouncing slightly on his lap, I clap my hands and practically squeal. “We’re pregnant!”

“Holy fucking shit,” he barks out before he tosses the stick over his shoulder and jerks me to him for a huge hug. We wrap our arms tightly around each other, and I can feel his heart hammering against my chest as I bury my face in his neck.

After a few moments, Kyle pulls back and looks at me mischievously. “We are so going to have sex right now to celebrate.”

“But Miranda’s waiting on me,” I point out. And yes, Miranda moved back to Misty Harbor right along with Kyle and me. She was my maid of honor at our wedding, and yes, her top came off at the end of the night as she danced on the tabletop.

“You would seriously rather go get your hair cut than let me lay you out on this desk and eat that gorgeous pussy of yours?” Kyle asks as he pushes up from the chair with his hands supporting me under my ass. He turns and sets said ass on the edge of the desk, his hands going to the button of my jeans.

“To hell with Miranda,” I sigh as I lean back and let him do his thing.

But his hands go still and his eyes turn serious. Kyle’s voice is rough when he says, “I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I’ve felt that I’m so complete since you came into my life, but now this… this just makes me feel like there’s more.”

“There is,” I murmur at him with a smile. “So much more for us.”

“I wouldn’t have it without you.” His eyes soften as he smiles at me knowingly. “You have this gift where you bring out the best in others, and if you struggle to find it, you help them create it. That’s what you do for me.”

“Oh, baby,” I say on a sigh, my heart melting even more for this man. My hands go to his face, and I kiss him sweetly. “I love you so much.”

His return kiss is just as sweet, but only for a moment. One of his hands fist in the back of my hair and his kiss deepens. He pulls back and practically growls at me with hot eyes. “Now I’m going to put my mouth between those sexy legs of yours and make you scream my name.”

I wiggle my hips on the desk and tell him, “Go ahead. Make my day. Sudden Impact, 1983.”

“Jesus, you’re a dork,” he says with complete adoration. “It’s a good thing I love you.”

“And I love you,” I assure him, but then look down pointedly at my zipper. “But you mentioned celebratory oral sex and I’m ready for it.”

“Me too, baby,” he says before he kisses me. “I’m ready for everything with you.”
