Wild Chance (Wild Irish Universe)(35)

She loved it.

With the rain splashing down against her aroused nipples, Mona groaned and arched upward. She wanted to touch herself but what was between her legs was his—he hadn’t given her permission to touch it. She smirked at that thought, at the heat it caused to swell inside her like the ebb of a wave hitting the shower.

He caught her thigh, spread her wide and took her again. This time, Aedan growled like a beast as thunder bellowed across the sky. Though she wanted to see his face, the pounding rain made that impossible. Instead, Mona clung to him, wrapped her legs around his thighs and met him thrust for thrust.

When she broke apart again, Mona took him with her, his body shaking over her.

“Mona!” Aedan ground out.

This time, she risked it and looked up. It wasn’t for long. Those few blinding seconds was worth it. The sight of him arched upward, majestic and strong sent her body pulsing again. Mona wrapped her arms round him and caught Aedan against her chest, his face into her neck. His hot breath washed her heated flesh.

“Wow.” Mona whispered. “When can we do that again?”

He laughed and sneezed.

That caught Mona’s attention immediately. “Okay, up you get.”

“I don’t know if I can.”

“Well, I don’t want you to catch a cold.”

Aedan moaned. “I’ll risk it.”

“We can hit round two in the shower.”

He began swelling inside her again. Mona knew for sure he liked that idea—he liked it a lot.

After their shower, Aedan washed their clothes in the washer to get the dirt off then tossed them in the dryer. He then stood behind Mona and used the blow dryer to dry her hair. Each time he glanced up to meet her reflection in the mirror, Mona was watching him intently. He wasn’t sure why but that look made him whole again. The longer she watched him like that, the stronger he became—the more worthy he felt.

When her hair was finally dry, he turned the machine off and set it on the counter. He accepted payment by kissing the back of her neck. Aedan meant to walk away but she turned and took his hand.

Without a word, Mona eased to her tip toes and kissed him.

This smooch was different than all the others. This time, it pulled at his soul and tickled something inside him he thought he’d lost years ago. In that moment, there was no doubt—he belonged to Mona Lisa Frye.

Finished in the bathroom, Aedan, grabbed an umbrella and rushed to the car. There, he grabbed snacks, an extra bottle of wine and a bag of sandwiches Mona hadn’t put in the basket.

She’d made too many.

That night, as the sky opened around them, as thunder rolled across the sky and lightening sizzled, they sat on the floor in the large living room, eating with their hands. Mona laughed freely. He touched her without reservation, without hesitation. Not once did she shy away or showed discomfort.

“This was the best date I’ve ever been on.” Aedan admitted a while later.

“Oh, yeah? It’s nothing expensive…”

“I don’t want expensive. I want—making love in the rain and in the shower—then eating with my fingers.”

“Sweet-talker.”

“I’m very serious.” Aedan brushed the side of her head with his lips. “After years of complications I’m happy with this. You must know by now that I’m a very simple man.”

“That’s sexy.”

Aedan smiled. “I really hate to do this, but I need to remove this leg.”

“Oh—okay.” Mona scrambled from his arms and rose. She extended her hand to him.

Willingly, Aedan accepted it and allowed her to pull him to his feet. It was hard for him to make it back to the bedroom. His stump was sore, and his body ached from the day’s activities. Still, he gritted his teeth to hide his discomfort. In the bedroom, Mona once again slipped to her knees. Without his help, she unclipped his prosthetic and gently set it aside. She removed the sock as well and set that on the bedside table.

“Did you bring ointment to cool it?”

Aedan scooted into the bed and rested against the pillows. “No. I didn’t think we’d be spending the night.”

“Okay. Stay in bed. I’ll go check on our clothes in the dryer”

“No rush.” Aedan caught her arm and pulled her into his chest. “Clothes are overrated, anyway.”

Chapter Fourteen

Mona spent the morning working on commissions. When she did the math, all the paintings she’d received payment for added up to almost eighty thousand dollars.

Not bad for a day’s work.

She took a moment to set some money into her savings account, paid her bills then turned her attention to preparing for her day out with Esme. After a quick shower, Mona dressed in a pair of high-waist jeans, a red top and pearl earrings. She skipped any other form of jewelry, dusted on some minerals to her face and added a quick flick of mascara brush to her lashes. She slid on some lip gloss then grabbed her phone and purse and hurried out the door.

Her first stop was at Esme’s place to gather her friend then made their way across town to their favorite little diner. They talked about Mona’s time with Aedan in Elk Ridge, a story that had Esme giggling.

“Damn girl. I did not know you liked it like that.”
