Trusting Nicole (The Last Hangman MC #4)(58)

“You’re insane but I love you.” He kisses my head and sits me down on an empty wooden box.

“Speak up,” Ant tells Sergei, not wasting any time while I look around to make sure everybody is okay. Everybody is here, every member of the Bastards, the Angels and the Hangman and it warms my heart. I don’t know if they’re here to save Jase, but it’s good to see all of them still united.

“I know where they’re keeping Jase and I know why,” Sergei says sitting on another wooden box.

“Go on.” Ant tells him with the most serious expression I’ve ever seen, at least for him.

“Slider, the Disciples Prez, his parents owed me money. They didn’t pay and they moved state to escape me, blaming everything on the Last Hangman. I had Jase collect his parents and kill them. What I found out later on was that the guy Nicole killed was Slider’ brother. That’s the reason why I started protecting her. We were keeping a close eye on Rob and Slider’s every move, Nicole got thrown into the mess by mistake. We figured Slider would want payback after what happened so we made sure Nicole was protected at all times. Might not have been the best idea in your eyes, but that was the least suspicious way to do it. She would have caught my men checking on her after a while. Anyway, Jase protecting her further fueled Slider’s need for revenge against him. He wants revenge against Nicole for killing his brother and against you because he thought you lot were responsible for his parents’ murder. Jase, no doubt, has now told him the truth and now he’ll want me dead too. I know I’ll never see the money again and I’m okay with that. I’m after blood now. The f*ckers have played with me for too long, it’s time for revenge.”

“He’s f*cking twisted.” Aleck says for all of us.

“What’s the plan?” Ant asks losing patience.

“Get Nicole inside so sh-”

“No. Fucking. Way!” Gabe bellows.

“Will you let me finish?” Sergei glares at Gabe who nods once. “As I was saying, get Nicole inside so she can tell them where we stand. I know Jase will never rat on us and well, he doesn’t actually know where we are. Nicole is supposed to tell Slider where we are, hopefully he will send his men here to kill us, meaning a bunch of us should stay here to take them down and everyone else follow Nicole and kill those f*ckers.” Sergei explains looking at everybody. A few nod their heads and a few look at him as if he’s grown a second head.

“I’m not letting Nicole go in there, willingly or not.” Gabe growls.

“Gabe, this is our only chance.” I plead with him.

“No, we barge in and kill every f*cking single one of them.” He retorts.

“What if Jase gets killed in the process? I’ll never forgive you.”

“For f*ck’s sake don’t do that.” He sighs and rubs his face.

“I have to do it, Gabe. I know you’re worried and don’t want me getting hurt, but it’s the only way. They don’t know we have a solid plan. What are thirty or so men going to do against however many there are of us? They won’t expect it. If we just barge in, they will kill Jase and that’ll be the end of it. I love him, Gabe. I’m in love with him and I’ll do anything and everything I can to save him, even if it means risking my own life.” I can feel tears filling my eyes as I look at him.

“Fuck sake.” He hugs me and kisses my head. “Anything happens to her, I kill you with my bare hands, Sergei.”

“Fair enough.” His thick Russian accent retorts.

“Let’s get this rolling then.” Ant says talking to his men and starts setting up the plan for those staying behind.

“You get even just a scratch and we’ll both go ape shit crazy on those Russians got it, sis?” Aleck tells me as he pulls me to him and wraps his arms around me.

“Got it. Just make sure you aren’t late.” I squeeze him back.

I meant what I said. I would do anything to save him. I’d give my life for Jase.

Gabe drops me off at the side of the road.

“You better be careful or I swear to God I’ll kill you myself.” He hugs me before I climb out of the car.

I hope I’ll be okay too. It’s quite unnerving playing bait and I swear to f*cking God they better bite. I don’t want to be doing any of this in vain. I start to walk in the direction of home, I don’t know if this will work, but since they seem dead set on capturing me too this is our best bet. I can’t possibly just show up at their location. They’ll know it’s a trap.

It doesn’t take long for a bike to stop ahead of me. I recognize the cut and smile to myself.

“Are you alright, Sweetheart?” the biker asks me, stepping off of his bike.

“My car broke down and my cell’s battery died. I couldn’t call for a tow truck so I’m trying to find a gas station to call for help but it looks like you are my savior.” I smile at him, hoping he’ll buy it.

“I don’t think so, Sweetheart.” He smirks and points behind me. I turn but don’t have time to react when I feel a fist connect with my jaw. This is not my f*cking day. I fall to the ground, groaning in pain. I ‘struggle’ when someone picks me up and throws me in the back of a van. I’m blindfolded, gagged and handcuffed to something so I don’t move.
