The Russian Billionaire’s Secret(188)

“I am coming, I am coming,” said Cory as he shot his load.

Then they both got cleaned up and took a hot shower together. Cory was putting on his pajamas when Liam stopped him. They got in bed together and spooned. Cory liked Liam’s arms and his warmth around him.

Liam kissed Cory on the back and hugged him tightly.

“Cory, I don’t want you to go.”

“But I have to go. I promised my parents.”

Chapter 1

The Infirmary

It was two in the morning. There was a great bustle at the infirmary. The nurses could be seen flitting about from room to room, and the doctors were working themselves up into a frenzy. The security outside the infirmary was tight, the entire pack, save a few, unaware of what was happening inside.

Tyler sat in the waiting area, a look of worry on his face. Rudolph sat opposite him, looking slightly smug but carefully hiding all his emotions and feelings, yet Tyler could sense the smugness. They were all waiting for the surgeon to come out with an update.

There was a stillness in the air, in spite of the bustle. The noise inside was quieter than the silence outside. There were about nine or ten people inside, but everyone had perfectly masked their emotions so no one outside or inside could sense what was happening. The doctors and the nurses were known for this; their actions would betray them far more easily than their feelings ever would.

But it was established in the pack that no one would ever even attempt to penetrate the barriers of anyone who worked at the infirmary. Doing so was a sacrilegious act that resulted in the immediate ousting of the perpetrator. It was looked down upon to such an extent that none of the wolves would ever even consider touching or preying upon the wolf guilty of the said crime.

The doors opened as the old surgeon stepped out, his hands trembling and his face grim.

Estelle, a stout woman, 6 feet tall, hurriedly walked from across the corridor. She was nearly 60 years old, yet sharper and smarter than any other female in the pack. She walked with her back straight, her head held high. Her waist-length grey hair was parted in the middle and fell on both sides of her bosom. She was the Alpha female, her presence strong and intimidating.

Although it was not a rule, but a Beta male usually never looked up at an Alpha female, not unless spoken to. Tyler and Rudolph followed in her wake, a step behind her. She looked at the surgeon, her thin lips pursed. Tyler stared intently, straight ahead; Rudolph stole a glance at Estelle. Both she and Tyler could feel it.

The surgeon, heavy with bad news, stared at the ground, waiting for permission to speak. Rudolph was about to open his mouth when Estelle shot him a look, keeping him from speaking. Then she turned to the doctor.

“What is it,” she asked in a gentle voice.

“Bad news,” he said.

“Is he going to make it,” asked Rudolph.

“Zip it,” said Estelle forcefully, shooting Rudolph another look.

“I was just…” began Rudolph.

“Speak when you are spoken to,” she said, then looked back at the doctor and nodded.

“His injuries are bad and he is not healing. Wolfsbane is heavy in his blood, and his body is failing. He won’t make it to the end of the night. He’s barely got a few minutes, I believe.”

“Stay,” Estelle said to the Betas, Tyler and Rudolph.

She walked straight into the operation theater and made for her Alpha’s bedside. She held his hand affectionately and looked into his eyes; his eyes were open but there was no light in them.

“Oh dear,” she said, what have you gotten yourself into.

But she knew what she had to do, that was why she had been an Alpha for so long.

Estelle walked out of the room, not an ounce of emotion on her face.

“I’ve done it,” she announced.

“What do you mean,” asked Tyler.

“I’ve put him out of his misery,” she replied.

“Let’s call it then,” said Rudolph.

“Your eagerness is offensive,” she said, taking in Rudolph’s 6’3 frame.

“I am just being proactive.”

“Proactivity will not help you become an Alpha.”

“We’ll see about that,” Rudolph replied, smiling with his blue eyes.

Estelle could sense Rudolph’s interest. If he became the new Alpha, she would have to become his mate, something she wasn’t up for. She had seen both the Betas grow right in front of her eyes, always accompanying Dolphus, her mate and the Alpha of the pack.

“We all know who the new Alpha is going to be. It’s me. Any girl in the pack would tell you that,” added Rudolph.
