Love At First Hate (Love At Firsts Book 2)(43)

“Are you seriously the one reassuring me? Hell, I’m Matt the God, for f*ck’s sake.” We both laugh.

“Looks like Matt the God has been knocked off of his own pedestal and needs help to get back on it.”

“Matt The God isn’t sure he still wants to be on a pedestal. He wants to know how it feels to just live, love, laugh and be happy, with you.”

“You’re such a smooth talker.” Nate chuckles.

“I mean it! But yeah, I can be sometimes.” I smirk.

“What did I get myself into?” Nate shakes his head grinning like a fool.

“You’ll soon find out. Anyway, what was bothering you before we boarded the plane?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Don’t you serve me that bullshit, speak up, Nate.” I narrow my eyes at him.

“So bossy,” he mutters.

“Don’t you forget it,” I scoff.

“You might take this the wrong way.” He rubs his face sounding actually worried.

“I promise I won’t.”

“Remember when I tell you that you promised…”

“I will. Go on.”

“Since you dumped John, you’ve been with a couple of men. Yo-”

“I’m clean. I got checked when I got out of my little player phase. I’ve always used condoms, even with John. I’ve never f*cked without one, too risky. If you’re worried about me going off to f*ck random guys in Hawaii, you’re wrong. I don’t do cheating. We might not have put a label on what we are, but I wouldn’t do that to you. I already felt f*cking bad when I went on that ‘date’ with the fake profile who turned out to be John, and nothing had happened between us then. You really don’t have to worry.” I smile seeing a wave of relief wash over him.

“Well, that went better than I expected.” He chuckles nervously.

“Told you I wouldn’t take it the wrong way. I can see why it would worry you.”

“Thank you.”

“No worries. What about you?”

“What about me?”

“Should I worry that you’re going to go off with a hot guy in Hawaii?”

“No chance, I want only one man, and he’s sitting in front of me.”

“Go me!” I fist bump the air.

“You’re a dork.”

“Damnit, you’ve busted my cover. I’m really a nerd and a dork inside.” I chuckle.

“Are you really? Aren’t you the perfect fashionista?”

“That’s just the surface and what everybody thinks.”

“The more you know…” he smirks at me.

“Oh, there’s so much more you have yet to find out.”

“Anything that could put me off?” He raises his eyebrow.

“I was friends with benefits for a little over a year with my now best male friend, Spencer. I’ve been to quite a few Star Wars conventions. I still collect comic books, and I could listen to Christmas music all year long.”

“Don’t I know about the last one,” he groans.

“No shame in my game.” I shrug.

“I can live with all of those.”

“Even with the knowledge of Spencer and I?”

“Yeah, he’s getting married to Haven and from what you’ve told me, the chances of him ever ending things with her are non-existent.”

“I thought that would worry you,” I say, surprised.

“I know you never had feelings for him from what you said. The only people I’m worried about that could come between us are John, Lindsey, and my family.” He sighs.

“We won’t let that happen. They’ll have to f*cking fight me if they want to keep us apart.”

“And through me. For once I’m happy and want to be with someone for something more than just sex, and I won’t let anyone get between us.”

“I’m glad we’re on the same page.”

“Me too.” He smiles at me fondly.

We spend the next hour making small talk about what we have planned for when we get to Hawaii and where we’re staying. To our surprise, we’re staying in the same hotel, but it’s massive, so the chances of us being close to each other, room wise, are slim to none. We’ll make do and try and spend some time together. I know we’re going there separately, but we both want to make the most of it while we’re there.

I’ve joined him in his seat that we turned into a bed, and we’re watching a movie. It’s not the comfiest, but being in each other’s arms is all that matters right now.

Nate is propped up against the back of his seat, and I’m lying on my back, between his legs, my back to his chest. We’re wrapped up in a blanket and enjoying ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’.

I can’t say that my focus has been on the movie much. Nate decided it would be a good idea to start massaging my shoulders and while I appreciate the gesture, it’s given me a boner and is slowly putting me to sleep. I have one leg propped up to hide the tent my dick is making with the blanket.

It’s becoming hard to just keep my cool and not have my way with him right here, right now.

“You alright?” he whispers in my ear, sucking on the lobe and eliciting a moan out of me.
