Knot So Perfect Omega (Omega Match #1)(54)
He groaned and rolled over onto his stomach, clutching the pillow I had just been sleeping on, but he didn’t wake up. They all had to be exhausted just as much as I was. They’d won a game and then come back here for a different type of game.
I tiptoed to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My hair was a disaster, and I attempted to take the ponytail holder out, only to find it stuck in the tangled mess. I was too weak to care and quickly used the bathroom and washed my hands and face. My body was sticky and gross, but a shower could wait until after I ate because I was damn near about to pass out.
Grabbing the soft terrycloth robe I’d hung on the back of the door as part of my nest preparations, I went back into the bedroom and let out a little squeal when I ran straight into a chest.
“Jesus, Rylan, don’t sneak up on a girl like that.” I pulled on the robe and secured it so he wouldn’t get any ideas just yet. “I need food, and you’d better not tell me you have some right between your legs.”
I looked around for my phone and found it charging on the entertainment center. My parents were probably so worried about me. Taking it off the charger, I swiped it open and found no messages.
“I hope you don’t mind, but as soon as we plugged it in, the notifications were going crazy from your parents, so we sent your mom a text that we were here, and you were fine.” Rylan came behind me and wrapped me in his arms.
“Thank you.” I went back through the texts with a sigh. “I should put a password on this so you guys don’t see all the dick pics guys send me.”
“Haha,” Rylan said dryly and then glanced over at Beck sleeping. “He hasn’t slept, so let’s give him some peace.”
He grabbed my free hand and led me from the nest room, shutting the door quietly behind us.
“Why hasn’t he slept?” I stopped him and turned him to face me. “He’s not having regrets, is he?”
If I was an insecure omega before, them sending me away after getting me through my heat would make me even worse.
“Not at all.” He pulled me to him, his purr soothing my worries, which seemed to be exacerbated by my heat. “He was taking care of business stuff, then he walked the perimeter of the property about ten times, making sure it was secure, and then he made some phone calls to get beta security guards out front.”
“What? Why?” I had felt safe in their house, but maybe I shouldn’t have.
“N’Pact knows you’re in heat… that’s how we got here; they let us take their plane with them.”
Even he seemed a little worried about that.
“You really think they’d try to break in here because they know I’m in heat? They haven’t even met me.” I didn’t want to believe that alphas could be so driven by their instincts that they’d take an omega in heat by force.
“It’s better to be safe than sorry. Then he’s paranoid about Brian. I can’t wait until we can officially fire his ass.”
Brian. Just his name made me want to vomit. “What did Brian do?”
“He had the balls to ask if you purposely stopped your pills to start your heat. Like, why would that matter anyway? It’s your body.” My mouth fell open at the accusation, and Rylan put his hands on my arms in reassurance. “We do not think you did it on purpose. But maybe you missed a pill or two by accident?”
“No. I have an alarm on my phone that goes off every day. Fuck Brian.”
“He was enraged we’re all for forfeiting the championship too if we need to. I don’t see why he cares so much. He gets paid regardless of if we win or lose.”
“He’s an idiot.” My brain was still latched onto the pill issue. Even if I had stopped them, it wasn’t like I knew it was going to start when it did. “I do need to call my doctor and ask about why I’m going through a full heat when I take my pills every day at the same time.”
“Maybe we’re just so sexy, we caused it.” Rylan kissed my forehead and then led me away from the nest.
It was almost six in the morning and the house was darker than usual. As soon as we were in the main living room, I could see why.
I hadn’t even known the floor-to-ceiling windows had giant roll-down blackout shades. It made the house that much more appealing. All it needed now was some new décor and it would feel like home.
Kane was asleep on the couch and didn’t stir as we walked past him into the dining room where Rio was at the table using my sewing machine.
“What are you doing?” I let go of Rylan’s hand as he continued to the kitchen, and I went to stand behind Rio, wrapping my arms around him and putting my chin on the top of his head. He was working on my quilt, and it filled me with warmth.
“Well, you had the one sample block made and all of the fabric pieces cut. I hope you don’t mind.” He had just finished a block and cut the thread. “It took a few YouTube videos, but I think I’ve got the hang of it. Only pricked my fingers a few times.”
I bent over his shoulder and kissed his cheek. “Thank you. Maybe you can be my first employee.”
He turned and captured my lips, but I quickly pulled away. “None of that. I need food and a shower before any more sextivities can take place.”
Rio laughed. “It’s just a kiss.”
