Knot So Perfect Omega (Omega Match #1)(38)
We loaded up on towels, washcloths, nightlights, and robes since none of us would probably want to get dressed with all the sex that would be going on. To be honest, despite taking a course in college on omegas, I didn’t quite know what was in store for us when it came to Kayla.
My parents never talked about my mother’s heats growing up, and whenever they hit, my sister and I were sent to my grandparents.
After Rio paid and arranged for the haul to be delivered, we headed to the food court since we’d been in Nest & Knot for over an hour and were all starving.
A few eyes landed on us as we walked into the large dining area with restaurants around the perimeter. I was usually happy to take pictures and sign autographs, but with Kayla with us, I’d probably growl and scare fans away.
“Well, crap. Now that I see all the places, I’m thinking I want to try these Korean corn dogs I’ve seen all over social media.” We followed her to the far side of the food court, waving back to a few people as we went.
“I feel my acid reflux already bubbling.” Rio grabbed her hand as we stopped in the short line and looked up at the menu. “A corn dog with potato cubes and hot Cheetos?”
“That sounds amazing! They have a sampler box where it’s their top five best sellers. We can get that and some fries.” She looked from side to side at us. “Unless you guys wanted something else. I’ll still get the sampler, then I’ll take home the leftovers for later.”
I laughed and shook my head. “This is fine. Little concerned about how this will play out with my loose asshole.”
The man in front of us whipped around, his eyes going wide with recognition. I cringed and gave him a what’s up? with my chin, my face feeling like it was covered in hot Cheetos.
I could see the headlines now “Is star Alphaball player Rylan Abbott down and out with a loose asshole? ”
Thank fuck the man thought twice about talking to us and turned back around. Kayla put her forehead against my arm, her giggle making my embarrassment evaporate as quickly as it had come.
We went to a few more stores after eating and then headed back to the house. Luckily, the fans that did recognize us kept their distance, probably realizing we were with our omega. Being out in public with Kayla had been a concern for us since we weren’t bonded, but since there weren’t huge crowds on weekdays, things were going better than expected.
No one had paid us much attention before this season. It was like all hell broke loose when I broke my arm in the playoffs last season, and then it was like everyone became obsessed with us.
It was a lot of pressure and there was still a very small part of me that was nervous I’d break a bone again every time I set foot on a field. But now wasn’t the time to worry about that. I’d save the worry for our playoff game in five days. Right then, I was looking forward to relaxing at home after a busy season, even if only for a few days.
“We need to figure out what we’re doing in the gamer room with a nest. My sister is going to want to game later.” We’d just pulled into the garage, and I walked to the front of Rio’s matte red Tesla to grab our bags. “Do you game at all, Kayla?”
“Some, but I wouldn’t call myself a gamer. More of a casual in the moment player. My dads have just about every gaming system.” She took a few of the bags from me. “I spend a lot of my free time doodling quilt designs and sewing.”
“What got you into that?” Rio plugged his car in and locked it. “It’s not often you hear about women in their twenties quilting or wanting to do it for a career.”
“Well, I didn’t really get into it until I started at the academy and took a class, but I guess once I did, I just kept remembering how my mom took all my dad’s shirts when he died and made a quilt.”
Sadness seemed to take hold of her, and I wrapped my arm around her waist.
“I’m sorry. That had to be tough on not only your mom but you and your sister too.” Rio shut his trunk. “Is that what you’re planning on doing? Sewing memorial quilts?”
“Not at first. I want to make custom or semi-custom quilts for omega nests. I think it would be hard for an omega to hand over a deceased alpha’s belongings to another omega unless I have trust in the community first.” She pulled away from me so she could walk into the house behind Rio. “There are a lot of specifics I haven’t worked out yet.”
“Like how to keep your delicious scent off the fabric?” I shut the door and we went into the lower-level living room and put the bags on the couch.
“That’s an issue. Being around alphas seems to make me perfume despite taking the blockers.
Maybe they’re defective?” She kicked off her shoes and pulled off her socks, leaving them by the coffee table before plopping down.
“You don’t really need to worry about taking them anymore unless we’re going somewhere.
Maybe it’s time to switch brands. I overheard my mom telling my dads one time that they lose their effectiveness after prolonged use.” I pushed some bags over and sat down quickly next to her, forgetting I had the plug in. I jerked straight back up, my hands flying to my butt. “Now there’s an interesting feeling. Woah.”
It was going to take some getting used to sitting without feeling like I was impaling myself. I carefully lowered back down, favoring one ass cheek before lowering the other.
