“Shit.” I pulled out of his arms and raced to the oven. “Holy crap. I knew it was a fluke. I’m hopeless at pastry.”

Dylan slid one arm around my waist and turned off the oven with the other. I looked up into his indigo eyes.

“You’re perfect, for me,” he said, kissing my neck. “You don’t need to get everything right the first time. We learn more from our mistakes than we do our victories.”

I smiled, grateful I had Dylan to remind me not to be too hard on myself, or him, whenever I forgot. Neither of us was perfect but we were perfect for each other.
