Holding You (Love Wanted in Texas #3)(32)
Laughing, he stood up. “Damn dude, you’ve got it bad.”
Letting out a small chuckle, I replied, “I know. My coach told me my focus is not a hundred percent.”
Will tilted his head and narrowed his eyes at me. “What do you mean?”
Shrugging my shoulders, I leaned back. “I don’t know. We were in a team meeting yesterday and I couldn’t focus. For once in my life, football isn’t my number-one love. I’m not sure how I feel about it right now. I’m confused.”
“Balance, Colt. That’s all it is. You can love football and Lauren at the same time.”
The windows were open and a breeze blew through. Inhaling a deep breath, I let the smell of the bluebonnets root inside me. Blowing out a deep breath, I closed my eyes quickly before opening them again. Looking back at the email I thought about how Coach had told me the NFL was looking to draft me early, they were that interested. That meant leaving Lauren. Frowning, I said, “I’m starting to feel like some things are just more important. I just need a few days at home I think.”
Looking back at Will, he gave me a weak smile. “Probably. You need a night with the guys. I’ll make plans with Luke.”
Smiling from ear to ear, I said, “That sounds like a damn good plan.”
Will dropped his shoulders and shook his head. “I guess I’ll take these out to my truck.”
Quickly finishing up my email to the coach, I hit Send and closed my laptop. The next nine days I wasn’t thinking about anything but Lauren.
Sprinting up the stairs, I stood outside my bedroom and I watched Lauren move about the room as she sang a song from Brother Bear. She must have felt my stare because she stopped packing. Her blue eyes embraced mine as we stood there and took each other in.
Biting down on her lip, her eyes narrowed and I recognized the expression in those beautiful eyes. Walking into my room, I shut the door behind me as Lauren laughed and pulled her shirt over her head. “I’ve been waiting for you, Mr. Mathews.”
Lauren and I were quickly lost in each other. Nothing was more magical than the two of us making love. Running my finger along her arm, I felt completely relaxed. A part me didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay right here in my bed for the next week doing nothing but making love to Lauren and giving her orgasm after orgasm.
“I’m done packing,” Lauren said, barely above a whisper.
Chuckling, I leaned into her hair and took in a deep breath and slowly released it. “Did you pack your whole closet?”
Playfully hitting my chest, she laughed. “Nope. Just half of it. You never know when a girl is going to need a certain outfit.”
Smiling against her soft blonde hair, I grinned. “You’re right. I’ve got a few things planned for us this week.”
Turning, Lauren looked into my eyes as she raised her eyebrows. “Oh yeah? What kind of things?”
“The kind of things that are for me to know and you to find out.”
Lifting up, Lauren turned and rested her hand and chin on my chest. “Surprises? Oh, I like surprises!”
Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she talked. Lauren had always loved surprises. Since I could remember she would beg her mom to throw her a surprise birthday party. Jessie never could get one planned because Lauren would snoop around for clues and always ended up finding out about the party. This year though, she would be surprised. Lauren’s birthday was in July but because of football practice this summer, I was going to be gone over her birthday. I was throwing her a surprise party at the end of June, and there would be no way she would catch on.
Tapping the tip of her nose with my finger, I laughed. “I know you like surprises. Come on, the faster we leave, the faster we get home.”
Lauren jumped out of bed and headed into the bathroom, but not before glancing over her shoulder and saying, “I’m taking a quick shower.”
My dick jumped as I smiled and followed her into the bathroom. This woman has bewitched me, heart and soul.
HOLDING MIREYA IN my arms, I walked around the room talking to her. Libby was deep in conversation with Alex and Maegan. They had been talking about something that had been going on with Maegan at school. I wanted to pay attention to the conversation, but my heart was lost to a four-month-old blue-eyed beauty that was currently giving me a huge smile.
“That’s right. You love your Aunt Lauren the best, don’t you, baby girl?” Mireya began doing that adorable little baby talk as my heart melted even more. Luke walked up to me with the biggest smile I’d ever seen.
“She’s addictive, isn’t she?” Luke asked as he leaned over and kissed his daughter on the head.
Giggling, I said, “Very addictive.”
Looking back down at the baby my heart did a crazy flip. I wonder what mine and Colt’s kids would look like? Wait. Whoa. Slow down on that line of thinking there, Lauren. We had only been dating a month, but it seemed liked it had been longer. So much longer.
Colt came walking up behind Luke with a drop dead gorgeous smile on his face. Yep. If we had a little girl, I wanted her to have light-brown hair . . . curly . . . light-brown hair. Blue eyes like the sky right after a rain shower moves through. She would have her daddy’s dimples and my nose. Oh, for sure she’d have my nose. Closing my eyes, I thought about my stomach growing with Colt’s baby. Snapping them back open, I got control of these crazy thoughts.
