Hare Today, Bear Tomorrow (Mating Call Dating Agency #1)(25)
Eve shrugged. “Owls don’t have much of a problem with that, you know. It’s all the mice we eat.”
“Gross. Anyway, no, no interviews today. We’ve got a reindeer coming in tomorrow, a moose with a social phobia, and a bear that is apparently an accountant and wants to be a lion tamer. Oh and a walrus, and a seal who insists he can juggle chainsaws.”
Snorting a laugh, Eve whistled through her teeth. “Someday, somehow, people will learn that Monty Python jokes are a real good way to make sure you don’t get any dates. We’ll figure ‘em out though. We always do. Why don’t you take off early today? I’m gonna send a note back to the happy couple. They back in town?”
Dora shook her head. “I talked to Garnet last night. She said they were going to go to Egypt. Not sure I believe it, but... yeah, no, I’m pretty sure those two are riding pretty high right now wherever they are.”
“Egypt, huh? I believe it. A reporter and a professional wrestler? That is hard to believe. A trip to see the pyramids? Not so hard. Anyway, I’ll get it to them somehow.”
“You sure?” Dora had already collected her things and took the last drink of coffee from her cup. “I can hang around if you want.”
“Nah, I got it. Go on and have fun, you crazy kid.”
The bell on Mating Call Dating Agency’s door jingled as Dora made her exit and Eve sat down with a pen and a fancy, thick, nicely textured stationery pad. She twirled the pen for a moment, and then set to work.
“I’m happy it worked out for you two. Wherever you go and whatever you see and do, treasure it. You have no idea when something will happen, but for now just live and love. That’s all any of us can hope for, you know? And give that bear a big kiss for me. Tell him we’ll catch the show next time he’s in town.
