A Chip and a Chair (Seven of Spades, #5)(109)

Okay, he was getting off track. All he had to do was say how he felt.

Levi took Dominic’s other hand and looked up at him. “My soul’s been searching for yours my entire life. I want to spend the rest of that life with you.”

There was a long pause during which Levi could taste his pulse in the back of his throat. Eventually, Dominic raised his eyebrows and said, “Are you asking me to marry you?”

“Of course!”

A smile broke across Dominic’s face. “You realize you didn’t actually ask, right?”

Levi glared at him. With a joyful laugh, Dominic dropped to his knees as well and flung his arms around Levi, crushing Levi to his chest.

“Yes,” he whispered into Levi’s ear. “Of course I’ll marry you, Levi. There’s nothing I want more.”

Levi kissed him, melting into the warmth and love of Dominic’s embrace.

Going home wouldn’t be easy. Life would never be easy. This was a world full of pain, and it would do its best to crush Levi under its heel again and again.

Now, though, he was ready to face those threats head-on, knowing that he and Dominic were in this together. So let the world take its best shot.

He was ready.
