I Married A Dragon (Prime Mating Agency)(13)

“My Kaida! What happened?” Cedros exclaimed, coming to my rescue.

He got me up on my feet with an ease that screamed of his tremendous strength. Under different circumstances, his confused and dismayed expression would have been hilarious as his gaze flicked between the toilet and my messy self.

I slammed my hand, still clutching the silk paper, in front of my cooch. With Cedros standing mostly in front of me, my naked butt could keep mooning the windows. To think I’d managed not to pee myself only to still end up dripping between my thighs and down my legs.

“I don’t know. The toilet attacked me with a blast of water,” I said, outrage seeping into my voice at the toilet’s betrayal.

“That was just the cleansing water!” Cedros exclaimed, stunned. “Humans have them. You call them beet… hmmm debee…”

“You mean a bidet?”

“Yes!”

“That’s no freaking bidet! It might as well have been a firehose at full power! I’m shocked it didn’t send me flying through the windows!”

By the amused look Cedros gave me, he realized I was exaggerating a bit… just barely.

“I will adjust it to significantly lessen the strength of the water from now on,” Cedros said in a conciliatory tone. He cast a glance towards my groin, which had me closing my legs even more tightly and placing my second hand in front of my nether region. “I’m guessing you want privacy again?”

“Yes, please,” I replied instantly.

I didn’t need to read minds to understand he found me baffling. Thankfully, he didn’t argue and simply walked out of the room. I cleaned myself the best I could and washed my hands in the sink. Thankfully, my boxers weren’t drenched, only damp in a few spots. When I returned to the bedroom, relief flooded through me not only to find Cedros gone, but that he’d brought my belongings into the room.

Swiftly rummaging through them, I got myself a fresh pair of undies. I glanced at the clothes I had left on the chair earlier and seriously considered putting them back on. Finally, I decided against it. Cedros had not awakened from his healing sleep by choice. I suspected there would be a lot more cuddling happening soon.

While I hated that I’d been somewhat coerced into this role, I genuinely wanted to help Cedros and fully intended to hold up my end of the deal. The greater the contact I gave him now, the sooner we could get to a semblance of normality where he wouldn’t constantly need to be wrapped around me.

Just as I opened the bedroom door, the most delicious aroma of cooked meat greeted me. My stomach instantly rumbled in approval. I walked down the very large hallway and past a few doors before reaching the living and kitchen area. It struck me then that the corridor’s impressive width and the ceiling’s insane height probably served to accommodate the massive size of Cedros in his dragon form.

I loved the slightly rough texture of the pale stone that shaped the walls. I couldn’t fathom how they had gotten such huge slabs so perfectly cut and lined up seamlessly. But then, that choice of material made perfect sense. Imagine a Derakeen losing his cool and breathing fire inside a house made of traditional materials with a greater risk of being flammable…

As I reached the kitchen and living area, I once more marveled at the stunning beauty of Cedros’s house. It truly felt like living in a castle in the sky—which, technically, wasn’t false. The massive windows all around made the space wonderfully luminous and gave the impression it was even bigger than in reality.

However, Cedros busying himself in the kitchen drew my attention. For all his alienness, he was truly a stunning male. At least seven feet tall, with the right level of bulging muscles everywhere, without falling into overly bulky, he had the type of imposing stature I always found sexy in a male. His reptilian legs and feet, not to mention his tail, didn’t bother me. I’d lived and worked alongside enough aliens to appreciate the beauty in non-human aesthetics. And that purplish-blue hair of his made me want to sink my fingers into it.

My ‘husband’ was undoubtedly attractive.

On some sort of grill, Cedros had big chunks of meat sizzling, although there didn’t seem to be any flame beneath them. He answered that question moments later when his chest swelled, as if he was taking a deep breath, then a steady stream of fire shot out of his mouth. As the flames licked the meat, he used a long, BBQ fork type of utensil to turn the pieces so they could cook on all sides.

I stared in both fascination and disbelief as some flames grazed over his hand. But he didn’t flinch or otherwise react. Where my delicate human skin would already be blistering from the heat, his appeared utterly unaffected. My gasp drew his attention to me.

Cedros immediately stopped breathing fire at the meat to first beam at me, then take on an almost timid expression. He shifted on his feet and cast a nervous glance at the meat.

“I am preparing food for you,” he said, sounding sheepish. “I read that humans should eat once every four hours or so. The cooking surface isn’t fully operational yet, so I improvised.”

“That’s very nice of you. It smells amazing,” I said, approaching.

His beaming smile returned. He placed one of the chunky pieces of meat on a clean dish on the island the grill was embedded into, and gave me a set of ‘utensils’ comprising a two-prong fork and a much-too-big, sharp knife that his people would probably deem average-sized.
