Twisted Pieces (Back Down Devil MC #5)(13)

“Why?”

“I don’t know. He told me to.”

“And who are you?”

“Jordyn…”

“Yeah, I f*cking get that part of this. Christ. Who are you?”

“I work for Mr. Strokner.”

“Okay. First off, this Mr. Strokner shit ends right now. Say that again and I’ll throw you out of this room. Got it?”

Jordyn nodded.

Why did she like that he talked like this to her?

“Second, you work for him? His company?”

“Yes. I’m new. I'm his assistant.”

Jace curled his lip. “He ever tell you about his daughter?”

“Yes…”

All the time. Especially when he’s touching me.

“He’s never had any assistants before,” Jace said. “How the f*ck do I know this isn’t a setup?”

“I don’t even know what’s in the folder,” Jordyn said. “I didn’t look.”

“Why?”

“Respect… for you and the motorcycle club.”

Jace scoffed. “What do you know about the life?”

“Nothing.”

“Then why did he choose you to bring this?”

“I don’t know. I’m sorry if I’ve upset you. Or interrupted anything.”

Jordyn started to slink back toward the door. Jace slammed his hand off the door and shook his head. “I’m intrigued right now. You want to know what’s in the folder?”

“Sure.”

“My record. That’s what it is. My criminal record. All the bullshit. Now, why did Strokner have that?”

“I don’t know.”

“Why you?”

“I saw the folder… on his desk…”

I touched myself while staring at the picture of you…

“You’re hiding something from me,” Jace said.

“No…”

“Don’t lie to me. You know I just got out of prison for murder, right?”

“Alleged murder,” Jordyn whispered.

Jace smiled.

Jordyn raced to memorize the smile. She raced to memorize the two little dimples that formed. She wondered if she’d ever see that smile again.

“You’re interesting, Jordyn,” Jace said. “What’s in it for you?”

“A job.”

“There’s more.”

“Maybe so,” Jordyn said.

“You don’t want to tell me?”

Jordyn scrambled. Her bottom lip quivered and she managed to mutter, “I don’t know…”

“Well, think about it,” Jace said. “I don’t have f*cking time to waste.” He opened the door. “Get the f*ck out of my room and get the f*ck out of this clubhouse. Tell your f*cking boss I said thanks for the folder. Next time, tell him to grow a set of balls and come see me.”

Before Jordyn knew what was happening, Jace grabbed her arm again and pushed her from the room. The door slammed behind her and that was that. Her one moment with Jace was what she probably should have expected, but it didn't help the wild fantasies that had been running rampant in her mind and throughout her body.

Jordyn walked back out to the front of the clubhouse. The same three guys were still cleaning the same mess. Jordyn didn’t even say goodbye to them. She left the clubhouse and gasped when she saw a black car waiting for her. It was a different car. She opened the door only to find yet another surprise waiting for her.

Mr. Strokner.

Jordyn got into the car and shut the door, but the car didn’t move.

“What happened?” he asked.

“Nothing. I gave him the folder. He got really angry. He dragged me to his room and yelled at me some more. He wanted me to answer questions about my job for you, but I didn't."

“You refused? For me? For us?” Mr. Strokner reached out and touched Jordyn’s cheek.

“I didn’t refuse… he was just…”

“He’s upset because he knows his time is up,” Mr. Strokner said. “That’s all. The mighty fall hard, Jordyn. The smart ones last longer. And those with money, well we stay forever.” Mr. Strokner smiled big. It was a horrifying smile compared to Jace's gorgeous grin. “Now, we’re here, together and alone. I’m ready to f*ck you now, Jordyn.” He slid across the seat toward her. “But I need more.”

“More?” Jordyn asked. She was terrified.

“Yes,” Mr. Strokner said. He traced her face. “I need all of you… forever…”

Jordyn closed her eyes and felt Mr. Strokner kiss her neck. She felt tears building up in her eyes.

This is not what my life was supposed to be.

six.

Jace grabbed the folder and threw it across his room. He f*cking knew what was in it. He had been there for all the arrests and the arraignments and the hearings and the trials. It was all paperwork and complete bullshit. What bothered Jace was not knowing why Strokner had it. The feeling he got was that this was more than just a mind game. There was more to this delivery.

Strokner was sending a message, trying to rattle Jace. Sending a sexy woman to deliver the folder was probably the best way to do that. Christ, even her name was beautiful. Jordyn. Her dark hair and innocent appearance almost had him fooled, but then he looked into her eyes and he could see the desire in them. She could do things for him that these strippers weren't capable of.
