Twinsequences Ivy (Twisted Twin #2)(17)

I covered my mouth and considered the possibility of my sister being pregnant. If she was, there was no way I could take her out the way I'd planned. I couldn't harm an innocent child.

Everything was going to have to change.

Suddenly, as I watched Willow turn around to put something in the cabinet, I saw a little head pocking out of an infant seat. A baby boy, dressed in blue, was sitting there, looking out at his mother. He was probably only a few months old.

I could feel a warm rush of tears pouring from my eyes. This was the ultimate betrayal. This hurt worse than Stoshua loving Willow. This was worse than them having their first child and raising her together.

This little boy had been kept a secret from me. Not only had Willow and Stoshua been living as other people, but my parents had helped them.

They didn't care about me at all. None of them did.

As hurt as I felt, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He looked like his father - same hair and eyes. When he smiled his cheeks had sugar bowl sized dimples. He brought his small hand up and gently grazed his mother's face. She leaned forward and kissed him on the forehead. It was obvious she loved him.

Her perfect picturesque family was much to be desired. She was living every woman's dream; a life that should have been mine.

The bile rose to my throat when I considered all I had missed. A pregnancy – a baby. The secret of it all.

No longer did I want to be with Stoshua. He’d done this to me, too. He’d kept this life from me, and not been able to see the love I’d have for them. He was blind, because of Willow.

She needed to go.

She had to die.

With anger resonating, I waited for the right moment to make my move. I heard the slam of a screen door and ducked down, making sure I was hidden. A little girl came outside and whipped around the corner. She spotted me before I could get away.

I smiled and waved for her to come closer. I could tell she was confused. I looked too much like her mother to assume I was dangerous. “Hi,” I whispered. “Can you keep a secret?”

She nodded her head. “I’m your fairy godmother. I’m here to make all your dreams come true.”

She swayed from side to side smiling. “What’s your name?”

“Mama.”

“You look like my mommy.” She spoke well for being a little more than three.

“I know. All fairy godmothers do. That’s how you know you have the right one,” I said convincingly.

“What about my brother? Are you his fairy godmother too?”

Tears streamed down my face. I couldn’t control my emotions. I’d waited my whole life to be close to this little girl, and now she wanted me to include another precious child in our new life. “I am. Do you want to know a secret?”

She nodded.

“I’ve come to take you to a land where you’ll be a princess and he’ll be a prince.”

She looked excited for a second, but then seemed concerned. “Can my mommy and daddy come?”

“Well, it’s not a secret if they know. My magic only works if you can keep it a secret. You can’t tell your mommy or daddy you saw me, okay, princess?”

She nodded again. “Okay.”

“Go in your room and gather some of your favorite things. If your mommy or daddy ask you tell them you’re going on a secret adventure.”

I watched her run away, giving me little time to come up with a plan to get inside. Lucky for me, I saw Willow walking out back with a basket full of wet clothes to hang. I watched as she gracefully picked up the light colored clothes one by one and hung them on the clothesline. I waited until she was too involved to notice me walking toward the back door. Before going inside, I made sure to check Stoshua wasn’t in the room. I entered the kitchen, smelling bacon immediately. A door shut in the distance, and I stood still just to make sure someone wasn’t walking back in my direction. The baby was rocking in a swing, sound asleep. I approached the little infant, noticing how perfect his skin was. His cheeks were chubby, and he was blowing little bubbles while dreaming about happy thoughts. He was perfect, and soon he’d be mine.

I was startled when the sound of feet got louder. Destiny was at my side, a small bag over her shoulder. “I’m ready.”

“We’re going to need some things for your brother. Can you find his diaper bag for me?”

While she was occupied, I ventured deeper into the home, intent on finding Stoshua and seeing the look on his face when he realized I wasn’t his precious Willow. The sound of water led me into the master bedroom. It was obvious someone was in the shower, just feet from where I was standing. When I heard the sound of a bar of soap dropping to the floor, I knew he was preoccupied. Slowly, I cracked the door, peeping inside before going all the way in. With only a foggy glass door between us I stood there, smelling the familiar scent of his shampoo as if we were still married and together.

“Hey, honey, can you toss me a washrag? This one is full of leg hair stubble for some reason,” he requested with a sarcastic tone. The door came open and his head popped out, but his eyes remained closed and covered in soap. “Or you could come join me and get all my hard to reach areas.”

I had no idea where a rag was, but the idea of feeling his skin against mine again left me with no decision to make. I began shedding my clothes in hopes of sauntering into the shower like I owned the place. On the counter was a straight razor. I considered the struggle we’d have once he discovered I wasn’t his beloved wife. I had to be careful, so I placed it on the floor, just at the opening to the shower. Need be, I could grab it within seconds and use it as my way to stay in control.
