Tamed (Torn #5)(41)

“What exactly do you want from me, Jordan? Just cut the shit, and tell me.”

He grinned, looking unconcerned, but I saw his eyes dart to the pool where Chloe was. “Who said I wanted anything from you?”

“I told you to cut the shit. I know you’re trying to get under Chloe’s skin, but is that all you’re trying to do? Don’t play me for a fool, Jordan.”

He studied me for a moment before shrugging. “Sure, it’d be nice to piss Chloe off, but that’s not the only reason I’m…interested. You’re hot, Amber. Plus”—his eyes drifted over to Adam—“I feel like I’m not the only one who’s trying to use someone. Am I right?”

I ignored his hint about Adam. “So, you just want to f*ck me to make her jealous. How sweet.”

“Like I said, you’re hot. Besides, Chloe made herself clear earlier when she said she was leaving with Drake tomorrow. I’m not stupid. I won’t wait around for someone who doesn’t give a damn about me. I’m not asking you out on a date. I just want to be buddies.” He winked at me. “And I’m sure that we’d both win since Adam over there is giving me the death glare right now. That’s what you wanted when you actually talked to me today, isn’t it?”

“Maybe.” I grinned at him. “But that doesn’t mean I’m interested in your offer.”

He studied me for a moment. “I think you are.”

I almost laughed, but I caught myself. Without thinking, I glanced over at Adam. Sure enough, he was glaring at Jordan like he wanted to kill him.

Interesting.

My eyes flashed back to Jordan as he waited for me to speak. I could do a lot worse than Jordan. The man oozed sex. I’d noticed that the moment I laid eyes on him. I just hadn’t been interested because I was too busy thinking about Adam. I hadn’t wanted anyone but him. Now though, I started to wonder if Jordan was just what I needed. Adam had no problem f*cking other women, so maybe I should start screwing around with other guys.

“What do you have in mind?” I finally asked.

His grinned widened, and he leaned closer. “Meet me in my room in ten minutes. You know which one is mine, right?”

I nodded. “Fine. I’ll be there.”

He stood and started walking back to the house. I didn’t miss it when he glanced back to where Chloe was. Doubt flooded my mind. I didn’t want to piss Chloe off just to get back at Adam. Friends were more important than any guys could ever be.

I stood and walked to the edge of the pool. “Hey, Chloe?” I called.

She looked up. “Yeah?”

“Come here for a second.” If I was going to do this, I would make sure that it was okay with Chloe first.

She flipped off her raft and splashed into the pool before swimming over to where I was.

After she climbed out of the pool, I said, “I need to ask you something, and I want you to be completely honest with me.”

“Okay…”

“If I sleep with Jordan, will you have a problem with it?”

Her mouth dropped open in shock. “Say what?”

“You heard me. I won’t do it if it will cause a problem between us.”

Her mouth was still hanging open. She finally closed it after a few seconds. Her eyes darted over to where Adam was still sitting. “But I thought you and Adam were together.”

I laughed. “We’ve never been together, Chloe. We just use each other.”

“Are you sure about that?” she asked, studying me carefully.

“I’m sure.”

“Amber, I…” She paused. “I don’t care if you and Jordan mess around, but I’m not sure you’ll feel the same way once the deed is done. I don’t pry into your life, but I know something is going on with you and Adam. Plus, I don’t want you to regret sleeping around.” I opened my mouth to speak, but she held up her hand. “I’m not saying that I’d ever judge you for your choices. I don’t think you’re a whore for doing what you do with Adam or anyone else. I just want you to be careful. You’ve been so different this past year.”

“I’m not the only one,” I said stiffly.

She frowned. “Point made. Just be careful, okay?”

I nodded. “I will.”

She reached forward and gave me a quick hug. “I love you.”

“Love you, too. Now, I’m off to have some fun.” I winked at her and headed for the house.

Now that I was sure Chloe wouldn’t be upset, I felt myself relax. I didn’t care if what I was about to do would make me look like a whore. I was tired of playing games with Adam. If that meant moving on to someone like Jordan, then so be it. Besides, Jordan seemed like a nice enough guy. It wasn’t like it would be torture to have sex with him.

I climbed the steps and walked down the hallway to where Jordan’s room was. I knocked softly before pushing the door open. I stepped into the room and looked around. Jordan was lying on his bed with his hands under his head. He turned his head to look at me.

“I wasn’t sure you would show,” he admitted.

“I wasn’t either,” I said as I stepped closer.

He sat up and threw his legs off the bed. “Looks like we both need some relief then.”
