Over the Edge (Bridge #3)(83)

“Darren.” Her voice was breathless as she tightened around me.

“Right here, baby.”

I expected her to tell me to go faster or slower or mutter something deliciously dirty.

Instead, she caught my face in her palms. “I’m ready.”

I blinked, trying to get my brain to work. Then my heart started racing faster when I caught her meaning. “Are you serious?”

She nodded, her chest heaving under soft breaths. “I’m ready. Let’s make a baby.”

I closed my eyes and went deeper on my next thrust. “Vanessa…” Her name on my lips was a question and a prayer.

Was she sure? I hoped to God she was, because I wasn’t sure I could stop myself. I wasn’t thinking clearly. I couldn’t when we were this close, when she was wrapped all around me. Goddamn, but I wanted her to be ready.

I was about to ask her again when she brushed her lips over mine.

“Come inside me.”

That was it. I groaned and pumped harder, but I didn’t rush. I held on steady, gazing into her eyes, sensing her climb and waiting for the right time.

Our eyes locked, we shared each breath, and in a moment of perfect harmony, we came together. Instinct drove me to stay nestled deep inside of her.

I smiled as I caught my breath. “That was fun.”

She laughed softly. “It was. We should do it again sometime.”

“Definitely. At least a few more times tonight.”

“You’re a man on a mission, I can tell,” she teased.

I shook my head. “Ever since I met you, Vanessa, I’ve been on a mission to make you mine. Never going to stop, so you might as well get used to it.”

I melded my mouth to hers with a gentle kiss, determined to make good on every promise I’d ever made to her. Tonight and every day of our future.
