Claiming Crusher (Savage Brothers MC #4)(59)
“Interesting. And Melinda?”
“It is her sir, she seems to be staying here with that girl you didn’t like from her college. Nicole Wentworth. Nicole is marrying the leader of this club. Melinda doesn’t seem to be part of them, though she goes by the name Dani Smith now.”
“Any other information?” I ask as the pencil in my hand snaps in two.
“No sir, I have started surveillance, per your order.”
“Give me two days to get things in motion and then approach her with a meeting place and time. I will text you the information and Donald, I want pictures.”
“They have already been uploaded to your personal phone, sir. Do you really think she will capitulate easily?”
“No, I’m counting on it being a fight. You and I both know how much fun that can be when it comes to Melinda.”
“Yes sir, we do. I shall report in tonight.”
“See that you do,” I order, hitting the button and turning off the speakerphone.
I recline back in the seat as I think about the information I just received. Finally, after all this time I am literally days away from having Melinda in my grasp again. I’m going to kill her. It will be easy enough, since the world already thinks she is dead. First, I will make it hurt. I’ve always known she was alive, but I’ll be the first to admit that the bitch covered her tracks well. I discovered the orderly’s part in all of this to begin with. I should have had the employees taking care of my wife vetted better. Turned out he was the cousin to a former play toy. In gratitude for him helping my wife to escape, he died rather tragically in an automobile accident. People really should check their brakes on their vehicles before heading up to the mountains to ski.
I’ve been searching ever since, but the trail began and ended with the orderly. I did have Nicole watched for a month or so after Melinda’s escape, but she appeared to be clean so I gave up that avenue. It is my fault I suppose. I should have had Nicole watched continuously. Oh well, you live and you learn. I have them both in my sight now and I think I should make the lovely Nicole suffer just as much as Melinda. Perhaps I shall make her give up her husband to be. After all, she stole my wife—it seems only fair.
I pick up my discarded cell phone and relax again pulling up the images that Donald sent me. I thumb through them slowly, taking every small change that Melinda has had over the years. The change in her hair color is annoying. She’ll have to fix that. It’s her natural color now, you can tell, but that is not what I like, now is it? When she dyes it, it will be with red hair, I decide. The pictures catch her, sitting outside on a picnic table, standing beside some men at an ambulance, and various other things. What catches my eye the most is the dancing. It appears my Melinda has been making a living taking her clothes off for strangers. I always knew she was a little whore, but the fact that she has turned her back so completely on her family name is sad. Her father warned me that her mother didn’t exactly have good breeding, merely money. You get what you deserve, I suppose. I will make sure Melinda knows she cannot get away from me, and I will make her pay. Then, I will end her once and for all. I can’t have her coming back from the dead. It took me too long to finally get my hands on her inheritance. I’m not about to give that up.
I click the button on my office phone to activate the intercom. My secretary voice rings out through the speaker.
“Yes, sir?”
“I need you to find some properties for sale in London, Kentucky.”
“Kentucky, sir?” She asks, disbelief thick in her voice.
“Yes, I’m looking specifically for old abandoned factories, buildings with large square footage. I need it out of town or in a less crowded area.”
“I’ll get right on it, sir.”
“Good. Also, the meetings today and the next three days can’t be rearranged, however start clearing my calendar for the next three weeks.”
“Three weeks, sir?”
“I believe that’s what I said? Perhaps your time would be better spent doing as I say and not questioning me.”
“Yes, sir. Anything else?”
“When you have the information I have requested, I think it’s time for a lesson in questioning your master, don’t you, Ms. Caldwell?”
There’s a moment of silence, before her voice comes back over the speaker.
“Yes, sir.”
“Good, please come prepared by bringing the flogger I prefer, do not disappoint me by bringing the smaller one.”
“Yes, sir. I understand.”
I can hear the tremor of fear in her voice. It makes my dick throb. The best thing about my secretary is that she will take everything I give her because she needs the job. My specialty is finding the weak and exploiting them to my advantage. Ms. Caldwell’s mother is in an expensive rehabilitation center after strokes have left her completely paralyzed. Bad for her, but very lucky for me. Very lucky indeed.
Chapter 28
Crusher
Fuck, life is good. When you wake up every morning and those are the first words you think, you know it’s going to be a good damn day. Or, at least that’s what you expect. Some days it doesn’t work out that way. Still, waking up next to Dani, her taste still on my lips, my arms full of her and her ‘I love you, Zander’ being the first thing I hear, has a way of filling a man with hope. I’ve got that every morning for a solid month and it’s been the f*cking best month of my life. I’ve had it good with Dani before, but now we have less walls between us. She’s even starting to show me more affection around the club. She’s slowly coming out of her shell. She’s still very careful what she lets slide in front of Dragon and Nicole, but I know eventually we’ll get there.
