Walker (Bowen Boys, #1)(41)

“They have Khan. They don’t know who he is; well, that’s not true. They think he’s you. They think they have my lover and that I will come along nicely to save him.” She glanced over at him as she continued. “Do you remember Seth Clarke and Norris Freeman?”

“Yes. They’ve been on the FBI’s most wanted for nearly ten years. Christ, they don’t have him, do they?” She nodded and he had to sit down. He had to think. Those two men were lethal when apart; together, they were a nightmare.

“I’ll get him. They don’t know it yet, but they’re both dead.” She pointed to the computer screen. “They are working with Small.”

He shook his head. “Can’t be. I had him tossed just yesterday. There isn’t any way for him to contact anyone now. I even had him moved to another cell. There’s no way he could have contacted them.” She smiled and he knew he had missed something.

“As standard policy you had him moved to the next cell. Right next to the one he had before so he can see what he no longer has.”

He nodded slowly.

“He had it planted there. That’s what I would have done. And for the record, they said that Garrett contacted them. But they said they’d been in contact with someone that would make you disappear soon enough. Only one with a hard-on to do that would be Small.”

“Mother f*ck.”

He couldn’t have agreed more with Marshall.

“Now what do we do? What’s the plan?”

“My plan is to go in and get Khan and bring him back here.” Warren started to speak, but she stopped him with her raised hand. “You can’t go in and you know why. If you’re hurt, how will you explain to anyone why you were here?”

“You’ll need backup. Who can I trust to help you?” Warren wasn’t surprised to see Walker raise his hand. But the others, including the older couple doing so, did. He looked over at Marshall who had as well.

“See, instant backup.” Lynne looked at Mr. and Mrs. Bowen. “You two need to stay here. And before you argue, let me explain. I’ll need someone to come and get anyone who’s hurt and bring them back. I’m guessing that, once this hits the fan, there will be people all over this. Someone needs to carry out the wounded.”

“You think that’s going to happen?” Walker looked terrified and Warren didn’t blame the man. “You think that someone is going to get killed?”

“Not if I can help it.” She looked at Marshall. “I need you to give me an hour before you call in the troops. You’ll need to take care of Small too. His cell will need to be put into lockdown and the service cut off or he needs to be put into another place.”

“Consider it done.” He smiled at her. “You’re a scary bitch when you want to be, aren’t you?”

She nodded, sat down on the floor near the computer, and started barking orders to the five men standing around her. Before she left thirty minutes later the plan was set. Warren looked at the remaining people and smiled.

“She’ll do it too. You have to have faith that she’ll do everything that she said she’ll do and then some. I’d trust her with my life.”

Mr. Bowen snorted. “We trusted her with all six of our lives. And we believe in her very much.”

Chapter Fourteen

The plan was set and she wasn’t tense like she normally was before a mission. She looked over at the group of men who she supposed were now her family. She took Walker’s hand and held it while she spoke to them all.

“When I go in, you’ll all need to stay back. I won’t be able to make sure that you aren’t killed while trying to save Khan. He’s not going to cooperate as it is and I don’t want to have to try to save more than one furry ass at a time.” Reed laughed, as did the others. “Also, I need to show you something in my truck.”

They all went out to her vehicle that had been parked in the garage since she’d been here. Backing it out of the parking place she showed each of them the small mechanism under the steering column that would release the explosive that she had on the engine.

“Anyone who gets in and tries to start it without turning this will be killed. The truck is wired to some pretty high octane stuff and there won’t be a baggie’s worth of stuff left to find.” Each of them took a step back. She didn’t want to scare them, but she didn’t want them hurt either. “Also, there’s something else you should know.” She motioned for Reed to come forward and stand next to the truck. She knew he was curious about the weight of it. She took his hand and put it under the seat just to the left of the middle of it. “Feel those?” He nodded. “They’re coded to be pushed in a certain order. If you don’t, then you don’t get what’s inside.”

He grinned. “A woman that’s as beautiful as you? Or do we get all the cash you have stashed under the seat? I bet you get paid well to be what you are.”

“I do, but that’s all in the bank in a nice safety deposit box. There are three buttons. Push them in this order. Number two, number one, then number two twice. Don’t f*ck up.” He grinned at her and asked her why. “Because if you do, then it will cut off your dick and you bleed to death.”

He jerked his hand out so quickly that he nearly knocked them both over. The rest of them cupped themselves as if she wasn’t kidding them. Taking his hand again, she put it back under the seat and told him to press the buttons.
