Chapter 21

Lindsey

There comes a time in ones life that we prepare ourselves to encounter, and what I ought to do in a few hours time will pave how I will conduct my future with Dimitris.

Getting Claudine’s address wasn’t difficult since her home had been featured several times over in gossip columns. The internet could be such a useful tool if one decided a full career in stalker—ing. I was sure I’d be a top-notch detective if life wouldn’t pan out the way I’d planned it to.

Having to convince one of Dimitris’s people to hand me keys to one of his beloved sports car, the lethal red Ferrari Enzo which was one of his prized babies acquired last year, wasn’t much of a hardship. It seemed that he took it upon himself to bark out orders that I should’ve be given whatever I wished for and if whoever defied that order, should immediately sacked. The older man that I was polishing the cars, who vaguely mentioned that he was Thea’s brother, actually made a joke out of it, winking at me that The Boss was wrapped in my pretty fingers. I had laughed it off then but deep down, my insides were twirling and doing perfect splits, thinking just how much he thought of me and my needs.

Not technically speeding about in Athens since the powerful car was rather too formidable for my own taste…and this was coming from a woman who thrived on the highs of whatever form I could get. I loved fast cars but this one felt like it would zoom into outer space if I stepped on the gas pedal too hard. I swear, it sure felt like it could be used as a teleport or something. So much to my utter dismay, I had to apply caution. A foreign word I barely recognize when it came to yours truly.

Claudine’s residence wasn’t far from Dimitris’s home in another affluent area of Athens. I think I was rather close to her home when my phone started shrilling, distracting me from driving. Upon seeing Dimi’s name flashing at me, I cursed wondering what I should do next? If I choose not to take his call, he might have a team of his buff Greek gods of guards out to search for me, so that might not be such a brilliant move on my part. Reluctantly, I had to slow down and find the nearest curb to park so I could properly take his call without fearing for my life since my driving skills weren’t all that great to begin with.

Silencing the engine, I took a long shaky breath before taking his call. “Hey,” I greeted hoping that I didn’t sound too suspicious.

“What have you been up to, yineka mou?” he murmured on the other end, making me scrunch my face before letting my thumb aimlessly feel that texture of the luxurious feel of the steering wheel.

“Nothing much…really. You know, exploring around and stuff.” It wasn’t truly a full lie, was it? I nervously thought as I perked myself up so that he wouldn’t pick up on my odd sounding behavior. “What’s up babes?”

“Can you meet me in the office, say in forty minutes? Vassilis should be ready to drive you whenever you’re done getting ready.”

Now it was my turn to get suspicious. “Is there something in particular you want to see me for?” My teeth were biting different parts of my bottom lip, trying not to worry about this sudden request to see me, or if it’s simply a coincidence that he called me when I was on my way to confront the French bitch.

“There is…but I won’t disclose it until you get here.”

“Oh.” I bit my lip some more, his response hadn’t eased my doubts. “Well then I suppose I have no choice but to see you cause if you won’t tell me, I might just drive myself insane theorizing…you know me…”

He made a light chuckling sound. “Please do…it would be a shame if you don’t decide to come. See you in less than an hour yeah?”

“Okay…see you in a bit,” I said before cutting the call short. “f*uk. Guess I’ll have to choose another day to rip you a new hole, Claudine.” I almost growled to myself because I could almost taste how sweet it’d be to throw sparring words at her. She made my blood boil because women like her—one that didn’t care if the guy didn’t love her but was willing to use emotional or mental ways to get their attention—need a hefty reality check. Since Dimitris wasn’t too aggressive on that score, I’d be more than willing to use my “artful convincing ways” to drill it into her hard-feathered brain.

The good juice that was escalating in my blood simply called hormones upon seeing Claudine because I had someone to unleash all these pent-up emotions and anger towards her, went on a sour turn since Dimitris’s phone call. Turning on the engine with a regrettable sigh, I retraced the route I took beforehand, gearing back towards his villa with a heavy heart.

It didn’t take long until I was back to where I started almost sad when getting out of the lethal red Enzo before running into the house and onto the stairs to get ready to meet my other half. Since I was already dressed in spades to meet Claudine, I hadn’t bothered with retouching my make-up and such but simply chose a different outfit to meet him in. Changing out of my wool skirt, I chose to don a black wool-blended tights with my black Louboutins over the knee boots pairing it a baby blue cashmere sweater. Since my hair was down, I opted to pile it high atop my head before pulling out my all-black aviator Ray Bans sunglasses. A spritz of some lovely rose scented perfume, I was off to head downstairs to meet Vassilis to drive me down to Dimi’s business headquarters.
