Unexpected Eva (Triple Trouble #3)(22)
“Who?” I play dumb.
“Eva, Dad. Eva. Pay attention, old man.”
Where is she?
“Right.” I clear my throat. “I don’t know. How did the refurbishment go last night?” I deflect.
“Good. Great, in fact. But I think they will complete it by Tuesday, not Monday, like we had planned. We changed the shape of the leather seating booths. They started last night, but it will take longer. I think it will look much better, though. We are definitely using the same remodeling team again. They are very meticulous, efficient, and tidy.”
I spent months ensuring I chose the right team, and even longer waiting for them. They are highly in demand.
“I’m proud of you, son. You’re a real asset to the family business.” He really is. He’s incredible with the staff. I’m big man, boss man. Lincoln is the more approachable one, ensuring all the staff are happy, and the hotel runs smoothly, whereas I oversee the larger projects, keep the board happy, and do the financials.
The whole good cop, bad cop thing seems to work for us.
I look down at Sam. “You hungry, old boy?” I make my way to the food pantry, around the corner, off the kitchen area.
As I push open the door, I jump.
Startled, I yell out an, “Aw, fuck.”
I throw my hand to my chest as I’m shocked to discover Eva, standing nervously, biting the nail of her thumb in the food pantry. She stands in the dark in nothing but my white shirt from last night. She’s all sexy and tousled hair like she been freshly fucked. Because she has been.
“You alright?” Lincoln shouts to me.
“Yeah, I stubbed my toe,” I lie, again.
Eva mouths an oh my God as she bugs her eyes out.
I can’t hold back my smile. She’s here.
Relief floods my veins.
I lean in, stealing a quick kiss.
I always want to be kissing her. What the fuck is wrong with me? I feel giddy.
Reaching Sam’s food from the top shelf, I hold my hand out and splay my fingers wide and mouth five minutes, then swiftly close the door.
I’m a shitty dad with what I am about to do. “Should you not be getting to bed if you’re on the night shift again tonight?” I walk back into the main kitchen, urging Lincoln to leave.
Lincoln licks his fingers, finishing the last of his croissant. “Yeah, good point. I should go. Thanks for the food.” He hops off the bar stool and yawns wide, stretching his arms up into the air.
He is a handsome boy, and he’s never short of offers from beautiful women. Most of them I see leaving through the side gate of our estate early in the mornings. What a boy.
“You didn’t ask for any food. You helped yourself, remember?”
“No food at mine.”
What’s new?
“Have a great day. Enjoy the weekend off.” He grins cheekily. “Have fun with Tabby.”
“Get out of here,” I urge. “Love you, son.” I really love my boy.
Clearly not enough to stop this thing from happening with Eva.
He likes her.
Fuckity, fuckity, fuck.
“Love you too, Dad. See you Monday.”
I watch Lincoln saunter out the side door, then hear his noisy Porsche 911 growl down the gravel side road to the west of my house. A few years back, I built him a house at the bottom of my estate. I still can’t work out if it was the best or worst decision to do that.
As soon as he’s out of earshot, I run to rescue Eva from the pantry. I’m desperate to see her.
I fling open the door. “Coast’s clear.”
She smiles with relief. “Thank goodness.”
“What are you doing in here?” I fold my arms across my chest and lean against the doorjamb.
She pulls the hem of my shirt down her lean thighs. “I came down to grab a bottle of water. Then Lincoln showed up, I grabbed your shirt off the floor and I ran into the first cupboard I could find.” She sighs. “That was close. What if he had seen me?” She covers her face. “Oh God. I feel terrible. This is not who I am. I’m a horrible person.”
I move toward her, remove her hands, cradle her fresh face, and silence her with my mouth, trying to calm her down. Our slanted mouths fit perfectly together. The kiss is gentle, soft, tender. Everything I never knew I needed. And everything I didn’t know I was capable of.
“Stop worrying, and I feel the same too, but I can’t resist you. I like you, Eva. I missed you this morning.” I actually did. I have clearly taken my talking pills this morning, too.
“What, for all of twenty minutes? You missed me?” She giggles as she wraps her arms around my neck, making my shirt rise, exposing her supple ass, so I give it a firm squeeze. She’s got a helluva fine ass.
“Yeah. I thought you’d left without saying goodbye.”
“I feel bad about Lincoln. But I also would like to stay here with you again tonight. I like you too.” She bites her bottom lip. “Your house is amazing.”
She suddenly leans in to kiss me again, teasing me as she bites my bottom lip, then pulls it into her mouth.
Oh, how I love when she does that.
“Only staying for the house. Noted.” I tickle her sides as I mumble my words against her mouth.
What is with me? I never do this couple's shit and I am far from the lovey-dovey or touchy-feely type. But Eva makes me feel this way.
