The Game (That Girl, #2)(11)

“Levi, wear it.”

“Never. I’d rather be mobbed than wear that shit.”

I fling open the door, throwing my hair over my shoulder. “I’ll go buy a f*cking hat. You two are about to make my very own hemorrhoid explode. I’m going in with her. Wait here, Levi.”

Lynlee soon loses interest in the hat hunt for Levi. However, I’m on a mission. Mission: embarrass the hell out of Levi. I’m not sure if he can be embarrassed, but I’m up for the challenge. Also, I know Lynlee’s sole reason for making him come with us was to get him out of the house for some exercise. The only activity he’s had was last night with his lady lover groupies. Day by day, it’s been obvious a tinge of depression has set in.

Lynlee even went to the extreme of Googling how to block ESPN and all other sports channels. Lincoln and his dad call every night for updates, but I guess they all have some strange man code where they don’t actually speak to each other. Lynlee tried to explain, but I don’t understand it. My dad raised me, and we were always in each other’s business, from simple updates on day-to-day life and right down to the nitty-gritty. We held nothing back. Hence, my mouth always gets me into trouble.

This mall is a bit ridiculous on the size scale. I’m used to a Wal-Mart or Walgreens back home, or a crusty local grocery store. We didn’t have any malls near us growing up, and the last two times I’ve been at this one with Lynlee, I’ve turned myself completely around. Looking around, I notice a quaint novelty store and figure I can find something just perfect in there for Levi. In the window there’s an assortment of trucker hats with foul sayings on them. One reads, “I Heart *.” Levi would have no problem wearing that one.

“Hell, I bet he has that saying tatted on his body somewhere,” I mumble to myself.

“Excuse me, ma’am, can I help you find something?”

I notice an extremely hot man standing before me. I say man because he’s not your typical teenager working at a random store in the mall. No, he’s aged well with beautiful tattoos covering his body. He’s downright gorgeous, like a fine piece of artwork.

“Ma’am?”

His voice snaps me out of my thoughts. “No, I’m fine.”

Watching as he walks away, I decide life is short, and I do indeed need his assistance.

“Um, actually, I do need some help.”

Down in my panties. Dear lord, I’ve been around the “Horn Dog” Levi way too long. I can’t believe I just let myself think that. Heat tickles at my skin, and I can only imagine how red my face is. The salesman glides back my direction. When I use the word glide, I do mean glide. It’s like his statue of muscle is dancing right toward me, ready to take me to the bedroom. Holy shit, I wonder if he went to a cult to get that hypnotizing skill. One thing it does make me want to do is buy a lot of shit from him.

“What’s up?” he asks.

“I’m looking for a hat for a friend.” My eyes glance over his nametag without being obvious. “Jake.”

“Okay.” Jake rests his hands on each side of his low-rise jeans, and my eyes can’t help but study them a bit too long. “Any more details on this friend?”

“Oh, it’s a guy friend, and I’m trying to embarrass the piss out of him.”

“Is he a tough macho type guy or more geeky? Secure in his sexuality?”

“He’s very macho, hot, and sexy.”

The words leave my mouth before I realize what I’m doing. Silently, I send up a prayer of thanks that Lynlee heard none of that little confession, but then a very dirty thought strikes me. Hot salesman, Jazzy, and Levi sandwich. My skin is now on fire, as is the rest of my body.

“Why are you wanting to embarrass him?”

“Because he’s a dick.”

Then thoughts of dicks, their sizes, and both of them in my bed. Holy shit, I’ve become a whore just by hanging out with Levi for a couple of days. I’m so going to hell.

“Doesn’t sound like a very nice guy.”

My eyes zoom in on the perfect hat. “I think I found it, Jake, right there.”

I point and squeal in victory, thinking how perfect this hat is for Levi. It will do his arrogance some good. I grab the hat and race back up to the counter, dying of anticipation to gift it.

“You live around here?” Jake asks as he swipes my debit card.

“Um, yeah, right here in Fort Collins with my best friend. You?” I mindlessly ask him, more focused on Levi’s reaction.

“Sweet, gotta name?”

“Jazzy.”

“Just need your signature and you’re good to go.”

Swiping the pen out of his hand, I scribble on the paper, almost giddy with giggles.

“If you ever get bored…”

I hear Jake trying to talk to me, but I have one goal right now, and that’s to see Levi’s face. Sprinting back to the SUV, I keep the bag tucked to my chest. Levi hasn’t moved an inch and may have dozed off, because when I swing open the door he jumps a bit.

“I got you a hat.”

“About time.”

“Hey, I wanted it to be special and everything.”

“Give it here.”

I’ve never been above using my body and looks for getting what I want. Hell, they got me and Lynlee through high school quite comfortably. Also, they got me into my fair share of trouble. I know if I have any chance of getting Levi to wear this hat through the mall, my ass better cozy on up to him.
