The Billionaire Prince: One Fateful Night(6)
“My name is Amie,” she fumed, “not Annie, you arrogant *, and you didn’t speak a single word while you were inside me.” Amie was offended by his words. She plucked the ring from the spot where he had placed it on the top of the bar near his glass and stormed out of the building. As she exited, Amie nearly collided with a member of the bar staff who was standing outside smoking a cigarette.
“Tell me who that * really is,” she shouted into the man’s face.
“Who are you talking about?” he replied.
“I am talking about the man who owns this big silver ring who is sitting alone at the bar right now being served even though the bar is closed,” she said, holding the ring aloft so that he could see it clearly.
“Oh,” he said. The smile faded from his face. He lowered his voice. “His name is Roberto Raineri, and he’s the super-rich prince of some old Italian kingdom.” Whispering, he added, “I can’t believe you took his ring.”
“He left it in my apartment, and he can retrieve it there if he wants it so badly.” She glanced through the open door and observed that the Italian prince hadn’t made any move to come after her. Amie wondered whether she should return the ring to him at all given the circumstances. She thought maybe she should keep it as a souvenir or a reminder not to take strange men home from expensive bars. Poor men were far less complicated. With a final glance at his motionless form, Amie stalked across the parking lot to her car. She opened the door, climbed inside and began to cry. This wasn’t going the way that she had hoped at all.
