Sweet Tooth (Little Cakes, #11)(43)

“Oh, no. I love these,” Elizabeth said sadly before narrowing her gaze to focus on Ellie. “I guess you were the decoy to stall me in Maniac Tats?”

“I was,” Ellie admitted. “Your Daddy knew I’d have fun chatting with Maniac and Tatiana and that you’d stay with me until I got the signal that it was time.”

Ellie rapped on the table to imitate the knock on the door. “It worked out perfectly for me. I got an idea for a new flavor. I promise we’ll make Sweet Tooth cupcakes again.” She lowered her voice to whisper, “It will always be a special treat to share with your Daddy.”

“Ooo, I like that idea. Maybe I can find another one I love, too. What am I saying? I love all your cupcakes,” Elizabeth rushed to assure her.

“Flirty Kumquat, coming up!” Ellie cheered.

Daisy and Riley swarmed forward to give her hugs before heading back to their shops. The few remaining customers in Nibbles & Bites celebrated with Elizabeth and told her Tom was a keeper. She agreed with their assessments wholeheartedly.

When everything was quiet again in the dining area, Elizabeth plucked a balloon off an empty table and took it to the back with her. She planned to enjoy it until she could really celebrate with her Daddy.

Elizabeth had become more comfortable being his Little girl with each minute she spent in his company. She’d practically moved in with him over the last couple of weeks, and he’d already asked her to stay with him every night. Did she want to go back and forth to her old place? If she needed the security of having a place to escape to or stay in if something happened between them, Elizabeth would have a backup.

She shook her head at that thought as she chopped celery for the chicken salad special tomorrow. Anytime they were apart, Elizabeth looked forward to seeing him as soon as possible. They just…clicked. Her Daddy had confessed that he’d been as attracted to her as she’d been to him at that first chance meeting. Running into each other again at Nibbles & Bites made it seem like fate—that they were supposed to be together.

Looking into the large mixing bowl, Elizabeth considered the first person who made the yummy dish. Did they just start throwing things together and it all came out perfectly? She dropped the immense spoon into the container as she realized it didn’t matter how the first chef had created it. What was important was that he or she recognized it as special.

She and Tom were amazing together. He was absolutely everything she needed and wanted in a Daddy. He appeared to be tickled to have her in his life. They were as perfect together as the dish she assembled.

Planning to tell him she’d move in tonight, Elizabeth threw a handful of her own special addition to the Nibbles & Bites chicken salad. She loved the tang of the dried cranberries to cut a bit of the mayonnaise dressing. It was unique and the customers raved about how special it was.

She had learned in culinary school never to turn her back on new concepts. Special mixtures resulted when she paid attention to what that small voice in the back of her head told her.

Loving Tom was the same. The two of them together were a special combination. The voice in the back of her head told her to take the risk. He made it so worth it. Besides, she’d always had a sweet tooth, and his kisses were the best treats she’d ever tasted.
