Marc (Bowen Boys, #4)(44)

“Monica said to give her a credit card and let her take her shopping. For a reason I can’t think why, Jonny doesn’t strike me as a ‘depressed clothes’ shopper.” They both laughed. “I would think that if you took her to a range to shoot something, she’d feel better.”

He glanced up at the house again. “You know, I think you might be right. I still have that target thing set up in the back. I could take her out there and let her take her aggressions out on a few hundred bottles.”

“Good. Now what are we going to do about Dawson and Kidd? There has to be something we can do to protect her. She’s family.” Khan laughed again. “That trick that Dylan did with the cats nearly made me laugh out loud when I saw the look on the f*cker’s face. Christ, he really thought the room was full of cats, didn’t he?”

“I know. And he pissed himself when you shifted. What the hell, Khan, were you trying to cause a riot?” But it had been funny to know that his big brother could make a human do that.

“Dylan told me to. He said no one would notice. And they didn’t. What did your mate do? She nearly took his hand off. How did you get her to stop?” He told him he pinched her tight. “Good job. I’m pretty sure she was going to take his wrist off if you hadn’t. Poor girl.”

Poor girl indeed. She was upset, and everyone in the limo had known it. Calling Dawson had been Caitlynne’s idea. She said it would be something to make him remember she was a predator. The cats had been Dylan’s. He’d wanted to scare the man who dared upset his newest sister-in-law. Khan wanted to show him the force of them all as a family, and Marc just wanted it over with.

“I should go get her. If you hear some gunfire, it’ll be us. I need to get her mind off this, for a little while anyway.” Khan agreed with him. “I have about a dozen leads on Anita. When I get them narrowed down to a few we’ll see what we can do about finding her too. Kidd killing his daughter, does that sound right to you?”

“Yes and no. I think he probably wants her dead, but like Chris told us, he thinks he wants both of them dead, Dawson and his daughter. I’m thinking murder and suicide.”

The conversation with Chris had been an eye-opener, and the reason for an impromptu meeting tonight. Caitlynne had wanted him off the grounds so she could see if what Chris had told them about the bodies was true. They hadn’t heard from her yet, but Marc had no doubt that she was going to find a great many bodies on the man’s property. He seemed to be just the type to kill when things weren’t going his way.

“What about the rest? Have you been able to contact anyone else about some of their packs and such?” Khan, being leader, could contact other leaders, wolf, bear, and anyone else that might have had missing group members. “Someone, somewhere has to be looking for their child.”

“I’ve gotten in touch with the local wolf pack. He said he has had some go missing, and he’ll see if he can find out just how many. I’m still trying to find a local streak. According to Chris, there had been a great many tigers there before he found Jonny to replace them.”

Chris had had files and files of records. He’d made copies of everything because the idiot that owned them had never locked it up. Chris was an informant for all sorts of government agencies, but also a really good friend of Jack’s. That girl had a great many oddball friends.

They ended the conversation, and he picked up his bags. When he went into the house Jonny was sitting on their bed with all the clothes spread out around her. He sat the last two down and knelt in front of her, taking her hand.

“You okay, sweetheart?” She nodded and looked around the room. He did as well. There were bags and clothes on every surface.

“We might have gone a little overboard here.” He laughed with her. “Where on earth am I supposed to wear all these to? I’ve never had so many clothes in all my life.”

She picked up a blouse next to her and rubbed in over her cheek, then over his. It was silk and he loved it. He wanted to see it on her just for the purpose of him tearing it from her. He reached for the bright green little bra and panties that he’d picked out.

“If you go and put these on for me, I’ll take you out back and let you shoot my gun.” He wiggled his brows at her, and she laughed. “Then when we’re all finished, I’ll let you seduce me again. I sort of like that. Then there is the payback I owe you for getting me all worked up about toys.”

She took the panties from him, wrapped them around his neck, and pulled them away slowly. She was doing it again. The woman had no experience with sex before he met her, and now he had a seductress. Christ, he was one lucky motherf*cker.

“Get dressed in something comfy. We need to get you to the shooting range, and then I want to take you against the nearest tree.” He stood and she ran her hand down his cock. “You keep that up and there will be no way we’ll leave this bedroom.”

“Is that supposed to be a threat?” She leaned her cheek into him and moaned. “You’re very hard, aren’t you? It’s a small wonder that you can walk around and not be dizzy. Is all your blood always pooled right here?”

“Only when you’re around.” When she reached for his belt, he knew that he should stop her, but he couldn’t. “Jonny, we really should be going outside and—”
