Healing Gabe (The Last Hangman MC #3)(51)

“What the f*ck?” Nicole laughs with Jenny.

“Must have been one hell of a pillar.” Bennett says as he and Ryan join us laughing. It feels good to be able to relax and joke around, even though staying here is doing my head in.

“I remember when they made me a prospect, they would have me do f*cking crazy things, I’m not sure I’m supposed to say any of this but it’s too f*cking funny to pass up. We were doing a couple of deals with another club when one of them made a deal fall through, stealing some of our drugs. We had to come up with a plan to get back what they had taken. And we found out that they were having a big party in an empty field. So everyone had this great idea to send me to the party. So there’s eighteen year old bearded me dressed to the nines in a mini leather skirt, a low cut top and f*cking heels, trying to snoop on the enemies. It was f*cking embarrassing, to make matters worse Ant dubbed it the perfect plan and made sure pictures were taken so they could all remember what a perfect plan looked like. Fuckers!” We all burst out laughing as we imagine 6 foot 2 Ryan dressed in heels. Fucking priceless.

“And no one noticed anything wrong?” Nicole manages through her tears.

“Nope, they were all too high or drunk to notice, thank f*ck.” He chuckles.

“I so wanna see them!” I grin innocently.

“Nah, they were deleted.” He waves me off.

“I’ll ask Ant.” I smirk evilly.

“Do that and I’ll share your baby pictures where you are lifting your skirt and mooning everyone.” He glares at me playfully.

“What? I had a nice ass.” I shrug not caring.

“You still do.” Ryan smirks at me.

“I’m so telling Gabe you said that.” I grin innocently.

“Ah f*ck, please don’t, I still need my balls.” We all burst out laughing again as he covers his balls with his hands.

We keep telling funny stories from the club which lifts our spirits and helps us relax. It stops me from going crazy, but it’s not helping the uneasy feeling I’m getting.

One of the cops barges in and scares the shit out of all of us.

“What’s going on?” Bennett asks him, ready to take out his gun.

“Our location has been compromised. They know where we are, we have to move.”

“Where are we going?” I ask, glad that we’re moving but wondering why they can’t just fight back. If the Hangman went after the Kings, there can’t be many Kings left.

“Out of town to another motel, come on.” He makes us gather our stuff quickly and leave the room.

“You three in this car, you two in the other one.” The other cops motions at the two black SUVs parked in front of the motel.

“We’re not leaving them on their own,” Ryan steps up.

“They won’t be on their own, they’ll be with me. I’ll make sure they get there in one piece.”

“We don’t care if you’ll make sure, one of us is coming along,” Bennett gets in the first cops face.

“Fine! Just move it, we need to leave ASAP!” the cop says exasperated.

“Go with them and I’ll try to get a hold of Ant,” Ryan says to Bennett who nods in response. “Just make sure to always stay with them, don’t want anything to happen to them.” He says to Bennett away from the cops.

“Be careful, Brother.” Bennett claps Ryan’s back and gets in the front seat of the car with the three of us in the back. The first cop driving and the second one following us in the other car. We all turn to see Ryan drive away on his bike. I’m getting a bad feeling about all of this.

Nicole squeezes my hand hard, I squeeze back and keeping an eye on the road, looking for any indication of where we are going. Bennett turns around and looks at me, worried. I try to force a smile, but I can’t.

This is too much.

It’s bringing back so many painful memories.

I can’t even begin to imagine going through what Annie went through and putting Gabe through it all. None of us will be able to handle it. Our worlds are already threatening to fall apart, all of this is the final piece that will make our worlds crumble down.

“Don’t worry, everything will be alright. We’ve been trained to protect people.”

“Right, tell us that again when they are safe and sound and those motherf*ckers won’t be able to hurt them anymore, then I’ll believe you. Right now, all you’re saying is bullshit to me.” Bennett glares at the cop. Now I know Bennett hates cops, but something more is going on that he’s not telling us.

“Yours and your lady friends’ lives are in my hands right now, so I would shut my mouth if I were you.” The cop glares back at Bennett.

“Eyes on the road mister hot shot cop. I’ll shut my mouth when and if I want to. I’m here to make sure they are safe, not in the hands of a f*cking wacko,” Bennett says rather loudly, getting agitated. I place my hand on his shoulder to get his attention and shake my head at him when he looks back at me. He nods once and looks back at the road.

I glance backwards trying to see if the other cop car is still behind us, but it’s not. This is a f*cking set up. I wish I could do something to stop this f*cking bastard from taking us away, but I don’t know what to do. If I say anything, he will know I know and we’ll be f*cked. If I don’t say anything, we’ll be f*cked. We’re f*cked either way and it’s all my f*cking fault.
