Diamond (Rare Gems #2)(46)

“Listen here, you slimy rectum captain, I’m working this desk because I was asked to fill in. I don’t give two shits if you’re the president of the United States or f*cking Ward Gobbly-gook. You’ll either leave this building on your own, or so help me I’ll remove you all by myself.”

“Who the f*ck shit in your cereal?” He should have taken a breath, he realized a second later. And when he started to step back from her, he knew that she was going to try and hurt him. Ward never saw the other man until he was holding the woman’s hand up in the air.

“Jade, will you please not kill the man in my building? We’ve had this talk before about you and your temper. Perhaps you should take a break.” She glared at the man, then looked at him.

“He made me pissed off. Ask Allen. He saw it.” Everyone turned to the older man from the elevator as he nodded. “Ward here seems to think that because he’s running the place, I should simply do what he says.”

That confused Ward. She didn’t think she should do as he told her? He was Ward Galloway—everyone should obey him. He looked at the newcomer as he let go of the woman he’d called Jade.

“This person was rude to me. I believe it would be in your best interest to fire her. She doesn’t know her place.” The growl that came from the woman had him taking a step back. “See what I mean? My brother will not tolerate this sort of behavior to underlings.”

“Underlings? Why you waffle-headed mother f*cking *.” He wasn’t sure how she managed to get away from the big man, but it took him and the other guy to pull her off him. Ward thought the woman dangerous and said so.

“You’re lucky it’s her and not me.” The older man, Allen, stepped in front of him and poked him in the chest as he continued. “If I were in charge, I’d take you out back and beat the shit out of you.”

Ward looked at the younger man. He looked like a man who knew was things were about. He was wealthy, fit, and seemed to be the one in charge of these idiots. Putting out his hand and completely ignoring the other two, he stepped toward him.

“I’m Ward Galloway. My brother Thad and I are going to do business with this firm, I’m to understand.” Ward dropped his hand when the man didn’t take it. “There is no reason for all of this. I’ve only come here to see about getting familiar with this end of the business and to speak with my brother.”

“No, what you’ve done is come here under falsehoods to try and wiggle your way into my company by throwing around your name as if it means shit to me. You’ve pissed off my sister-in-law and insulted my father.” The man took a step toward him as he glared hard. “What is it you really want?”

“My brother sent me here and—” Ward found himself lifted off the floor and his feet dangling a good two feet up. He started to struggle, but the man had him so tightly held that he only managed to hurt himself.

“Blair, please put the moron down.” Ward looked at the man coming up behind who he assumed was Blair as he was set back on the floor. “What the f*ck are you doing here, Ward? I thought I told you to stay at the hotel and wait for the police.”

“Thad?” The man nodded. “Christ, you look…where can I get a suit like that? I can have it tailored, can’t I? But I’d have to have a silk shirt. I don’t wear cotton unless I have to.”

“I could care less what you wear or don’t wear as a matter of fact. And unless you have a job somewhere, I’m not footing the bill for you to have a suit made only to wear to jail.” Thad looked around the room and smiled. Ward turned to see what had changed him from being pissed off to smiling like a sap when he saw them.

Good Christ, they were beautiful. Five of the most…no make that six, because when the woman from the desk joined them, he could see that they were all related. He’d never seen so many hookers in one place in all his life.

“Are you going to share them?” He looked at Blair when he growled. “You can’t think to keep all these lovely pieces of ass all to yourself. Christ man, they must be costing you a fortune if you’re paying them by the hour.”

The woman in the front smiled at him as she moved toward him. Now this was a way to greet a man. When she raised her hand, he reached for it only to have her snatch it back. He took a step toward her only to come up short when she grabbed his balls. Tight.

“Honey, you may want to—” Ward reached out to slap her when she tightened her grip. He felt sweat bead on his forehead when she gave him a hard twist, but he didn’t touch her again.

“Ward, I’d like you to meet my future wife, Diamond. Diamond, honey this is my idiot brother. He’s going to tell us why he’s here and what the f*ck he was thinking killing that man.”

“I didn’t kill anyone.” Ward cried out when she twisted his balls again. “Christ, make her stop, she’s hurting me.”

“And she’ll continue hurting you until you answer the f*cking questions. Why did you kill that man?” This man could not be his brother and he started to tell him so when the woman, Diamond, twisted his balls tighter.

“He touched me. I only wanted a suit and he was going to…he was going to blow me.” Diamond laughed, and that made him reach for her again. “You f*cking cunt.”

Ward connected with her mouth, but she pulled on his balls again before she fell back. He couldn’t breathe for several seconds, but saw that while they helped her up from the floor, he was free. He limped to the door as quickly as he could, and was nearly out when someone shouted his name. Blair came at him now, and somehow he knew that if the big man caught up with him, he’d be dead. Ward crashed through the door and out into the street.
