Bet On It: An Age Gap Billionaire Office Romance(70)

The guy with the gun opened the door, and just like happened to the last guy, a hand came in, yanking him out. There was no sound to it, so whoever was on Reed's side was good at taking men down.

All of a sudden, I heard a commotion behind me and feared that Gino had more men. But Reed turned and rushed over to me, coming around behind me to undo my restraints.

"What are you doing?" Gino shouted. "Marcus, Anthony."

The door opened, and a man I didn't know came rushing in with a gun pointed at Gino's head. Behind him, another group of people filed in, and then more showed up behind me.

Two of them I recognized. "Bo? Pierce?"

Bo gave me his signature grin. "I’ll tell you what, Analyn. Reed has me beat on creating excitement during a date."

In the next moment, my hands were free and I was pulled from the chair and held in Reed’s arms.

"Tell me you're okay."

Realizing I was safe, I wrapped my arms around him. I would've wrapped my legs too except my dress prevented it.

He held me so tightly I was lifted off the ground. I pulled back enough that I could press my hands to his cheeks and look into his eyes. "I love you."

He blinked like he was in shock. "That's not just the adrenaline talking, is it?"

I shook my head. "No. I've known it for a long time, but I've been a coward for a long time too. But not anymore."

His grin was slow and sure, and happy. "That's good to hear, Analyn, because I love you too."

"Can you just kiss her already and we can get the hell out here?" Pierce's voice sounded across the warehouse.

Reed pressed his lips to mine, and I returned the kiss, pouring everything I had into it, hoping he could feel the truth of my feelings.

He lowered me down and slipped his arm around my waist, holding me close as we turned.

"Analyn, I think you know Bo and Pierce. These other men are the Las Vegas hockey team. Except for the man who’s got Gino all tied up and ready to piss his pants. That’s Dax Sheppard, from Saint security."

Dax saluted me and then pulled out his phone to make a call.

"Where are the other two guys?" I asked about Marcus and Anthony.

"Oh, my God Analyn, you should've seen it. Dax Sheppard is a fucking superhero. In one move, those guys were out for the count. They’re tied up in the back of his van now." Bo spoke about Dax with the reverence of an eight-year-old.

I was happy that this ordeal was done, but I also knew our problems with Paradise Limited were not necessarily over. "Gino isn't the boss of the whole thing."

Reed turned to me, his hands rubbing my arms. "I know. But with Saint Security and the FBI involved, we should be safe.”

"The Feds have just taken Carson Knowles and a bunch of his men in. He's the head of the whole thing," Dax said, slipping his phone back into his pocket.

“Wow. That fast?” Pierce asked.

Dax nodded as he grabbed Gino. “That fast. How about it, Gino? You gonna go in easy?”

“I ain’t saying nothing to any of you. I’ll be out by the end of the night.”

“We’ll see about that. I’m your taxi to the FBI office.”

I looked up at Reed. "So, it's over?"

He nodded. "For those guys, it is. But for you and me, Analyn, it's just the beginning, right?"

I launched myself into his arms, holding on tight. "Right."

I had never been so fucking scared in my life. But now, the whole ordeal was over. Analyn’s rescue attempt had gone off without a hitch.

I was so thankful to have thought to call Pierce and let him know what was going on. I was ready to barge into the warehouse and probably get Analyn killed. I would've never been able to live with myself if that happened. But by reaching out to Pierce, he had the clarity of mind to come up with a plan.

The plan we executed wasn't a whole lot different from what we had come up with when I met him at the ice rink. It included me and Pierce and members of the hockey team who were willing to sacrifice themselves to save my woman. From then on, all of them had my eternal gratitude.

By chance, I got a call from Max at the Golden Oasis, asking why I wasn't there. I had forgotten that I had called to set up a romantic evening for me and Analyn. Of course, because my mind was scrambled, I blurted out everything that was going on.

"You can't go in there by yourself, Reed. Let me call my brother-in-law,” Max said.

Brother-in-law? And then I remembered his sister had married a man who’d once worked as a mercenary and now was part of an elite security firm called Saint Security. I was running out of time, and at the same time, I knew having a security professional, ex-mercenary, no less, could be the difference between life and death for Analyn.

Several minutes later, Dax was on the phone with me, and I had relayed the plan we had set up so far. Dax met us up the street from the warehouse and made a few tweaks to the plan. Mostly, he was the one who yanked the two goons out, and Bo was right. With one move, those two guys were out cold. He’d also contacted other members of Saint Security and apparently, an entire team was mobilized to coordinate with the FBI to bring all of Paradise Limited down.
