About a Dragon (Dragon Kin #2)(42)

She grabbed one of the furs piled on the floor and wrapped it around her body, making sure to cover her head completely.

Éibhear, so deeply absorbed in the third volume on his grandfather’s life when a very young dragon—Darkness’ Bones, that dragon was a slag—he didn’t realize Gwenvael had left the room until he returned with an extremely calm Briec. A little too calm, in fact.

Naked, with an erection that could knock down the walls of the Dragon Queen’s mountain home, Briec didn’t even look at Éibhear as he turned to face his silver-haired brother. “Shift. Now.”

Uh-oh. Éibhear closed his book. It was a rare moment when a dragon asked another dragon to shift to human, but apparently Briec didn’t want to shift back to dragon.

Gwenvael rolled his eyes but chanted the ancient spell, which quickly shifted him to human form.

“Before you say anything, brother, I wasn’t there long.”

Briec didn’t respond. He simply stared at Gwenvael who seemed hell-bent on ignoring that which was right in front of him. Like Briec’s simmering rage.

“I mean, I could see your little Talaith has a way with her tongue.”

Éibhear closed his eyes briefly and wondered exactly how such a brilliant dragon could be such an utter idiot at the most dangerous times.

“And a strong, firm grip with that hand of hers.”

So intent on amusing himself, Gwenvael didn’t even see Briec’s hands lower to his sides. Or see he’d closed his eyes and begun chanting softly.

“Although I always thought of you as the kind to literally force a woman’s head onto that rather healthy-sized c**k you’ve got there.”

Powerful ancient Magicks flowed between Briec’s hands as Gwenvael kept right on talking.

“But to each his own, I guess. Oh, and by the way, brother, she has an amazing body. All lush and curvy. Personally, I could lose hours in that sweet…aaaaarrrggghhhhhhh!”

Gwenvael slammed into the cave wall with such force, Éibhear was sure he heard something break. Although he doubted it was that ridiculously hard head of his.

Briec hadn’t even moved from his spot. Although not nearly as powerful as the Queen or Morfyd, Briec had trained with dragon wizards in his early days. Interested in Magick, but not enough to stray from his path of Dragonwarrior, he had developed some powerful Magick skills.

Clearly, Gwenvael failed to remember that.

Éibhear stared at Gwenvael’s prone body, sparks of Magick still coming off him.

“When he wakes up,” Briec said, “and that won’t be for quite awhile, tell him to stay away from me.”

“Aye.” Éibhear decided against saying much else.

With a nod, Briec walked back toward where he’d no doubt left Talaith. Sparing his unconscious older brother one more glance, Éibhear shrugged and returned to his book.

Briec walked back into the chamber, his rage still singing through his veins. What he didn’t expect to find…Talaith trying to leave wearing only a fur covering.

“Where are you going?”

“Outside.”

“Outside?”

“Yes. I’m hoping there’s still a storm. I’ll run in the rain, naked, and hopefully catch my death. Or, if I’m truly lucky, lightning will strike me dead.”

“Why would you…I don’t under…” Briec rubbed his eyes with his knuckles. His c**k hurt from its need to come and she was babbling. Damn woman. “What are you talking about?”

“You don’t expect me to live with this embarrassment, do you?”

“Embarrassment about what?”

She took a step back, her face a riot of confusion. “About your brother watching us.”

Now he was confused. “Why would that embarrass you?”

“If you’re not embarrassed why did you take him out of here and, I’m hoping, gut him like a fish?”

“Because he interrupted me,” he bit out between severely clenched teeth. “And I wasn’t done.”

“Well, we’re done now,” she barked and actually tried to walk around him. Grabbing hold of the fur, he snatched it off her. Angry, Talaith spun around but froze when she saw his face. He could imagine how he must look. Desperate, most likely. Because he was.

“You’re not going anywhere.” Not now. Not after last night. Now he knew why Fearghus smiled. If this was normal human f**king, he couldn’t believe he hadn’t taken a human before. And he wasn’t about to let that idiot brother of his ruin this.

“I understand, dragon, that you like to pretend you have some hold over me, but let me inform you quite clearly—”

“What has you so upset, Talaith?” He cut her off, stepping in front of her so she couldn’t leave. “Just my brother walking in on us?”

“Oh, come on, Briec. He didn’t just walk in on us. I have no idea how long that big bastard had been standing there watching us, but by the look on his face, it was for quite a bit.”

“So what?” He took a step toward her and immediately she took a step back. “You think my brother, especially Gwenvael, has never seen two beings f**king before? Do you think he’s never done it?”

“I don’t care what he’s seen or done. All I care about is—”
